Hear Ye, Hear Ye—the latest royal baby has arrived.
Princess Beatrice, granddaughter of the late Queen Elizabeth II and Prince Philip and daughter of Prince Andrew and Sarah Ferguson, welcomed her second child with husband Edoardo Mapelli Mozzi, the royal family announced in post shared on Jan. 29.
"Her Royal Highness Princess Beatrice and Mr Edoardo Mapelli Mozzi are delighted to announce the safe arrival of their daughter, Athena Elizabeth Rose Mapelli Mozzi, born on Wednesday, 22nd January, at 12:57pm," their statement alongside a photo of their newborn posted to Instagram read. "The baby was born weighing 4 pounds and 5 ounces."
The royal family initially announced the baby news in an official palace statement on October 1.
“Her Royal Highness Princess Beatrice and Mr Edoardo Mapelli Mozzi are very pleased to announce that they are expecting their second child together in early spring,” read the Royal Family’s Instagram post, noting that King Charles III “has been informed and both families are delighted with the news.”
Accompanying the message was a photo of the pair, who married at a private ceremony in Windsor in July 2020, and a snap of Edoardo hand-in-hand with their 3-year-old daughter Sienna and the British executive’s 7-year-old son Christopher Woolf—nicknamed “Wolfie”—who he shares with ex-wife Dara Huang.
While London-bred Edoardo and Dara, an architect based in the U.S., called off their engagement in 2018 after three years together, they have been very open about their positive co-parenting relationship. "Wolfie has had two sets of parents trying to help him on both sides," Dara told Harper's Bazaar in an interview published in March. "I just think, 'The more, the merrier.'"
Dara added that she feels "lucky to have such positive people" around who "embrace" her son.
Upon the announcement of baby number two, the good vibes kept on rolling as Beatrice’s mother chimed in to express her excitement. "Words can’t quite express the joy and excitement I feel as you and Edo welcome another precious addition to your beautiful family,” she gushed in an Instagram post. “Our family is growing, and so too is the love that surrounds us.”
The Duchess of York went on to write that she “cannot wait to meet this little one and to share in all the wonderful memories we will make together.”
The post also included a few royally adorable snaps of the 36-year-old mom and her daughter, Sienna. The final photo in the Insta post featured Sarah and both of her royal daughters— Beatrice and Princess Eugenie.
“She has a lovely family life,” Sienna’s godmother Gabriela Peacock told Vanity Fair in April. “I don't think I've ever seen her so happy. She's got the best husband and she and Edo are a perfect couple and great team. They are so happy and in love and complement each other so well.”
