Rosie O'Donnell is expressing her appreciation.
Following her daughter Chelsea Belle O'Donnell’s two recent arrests on child neglect and drug-related charges, the comedian shared a message with her online supporters.
“I just wanted to thank everybody for their kind words and wishes about Chelsea,” Rosie said in a TikTok video posted Oct. 21. “I appreciate that. It’s very, very nice.”
The former talk show host, 62—who is also mom to kids Parker, 29, Blake, 24, Vivienne, 21, and Dakota, 11—went on to express her gratitude to those who shared their own experiences as the situation plays out publicly.
“For all the people who told me they were going through something similar with a child or a spouse or a brother or a lover,” she continued, “thank you for making me feel less alone. I think it’s hard to be a public person sometimes, and it’s hard for the children of those public people, but it is what it is in the culture today. And here we are. So that’s that.”
According to court records, Chelsea, 27, was first arrested in September in Marinette County, Wis. on felony counts of neglecting a child, maintaining a drug trafficking place and possession of methamphetamine. She also faces misdemeanor counts of possession of THC, illegally obtained prescriptions and drug paraphernalia, and domestic abuse.
Weeks later, Chelsea was arrested again Oct. 11 in Oconto County, Wis., and later charged with felony possession of methamphetamine and narcotic drugs and bail jumping. She was also charged with misdemeanor counts of drug paraphernalia possession and resisting or obstructing an officer.
According to Oconto County Jail records, Chelsea remains in custody.
As news of the arrests became public, Rosie shared a photo of daughter, with whom she’s had a difficult relationship over the years, with one of her four children.
“Chelsea is in the news today,” Rosie wrote in an Instagram post Oct. 19. “This is a photo from a better time.”
