Justin Baldoni sees only the good type of drama for Rafael Solano’s future.

Five years after Jane the Virgin ended with Justin’s character marrying Gina Rodriguez’s Jane Villanueva, the 40-year-old reflected on where he believes the characters would be now.

“I think somewhere enjoying their life, probably dealing with some sort of telenovela drama,” Justin joked in an exclusive E! News interview, before imagining how the couple would be grappling with a teenage Mateo. “He's probably 14 or 15 years old—so they're, they're dealing with that. I can only imagine what that's like.”

Still, overall, the It Ends With Us director—who shares kids Maiya, 9, and Maxwell, 7, with wife Emily Baldoni—sees a happily ever after for the pair. As he put it, “I think they’re very much in love.”

Ultimately going after happiness is what Justin strives for in all his work today. Indeed, the Wayfarer Studios cofounder aspires to find “ways to be of service” through his acting, directing and producing endeavors.

“We get this much time on this planet,” Justin emphasized. “We really have to be aware and present and cognizant of the time that we have and the way we're spending it. And with work, I just want the work that I do to be helpful and to contribute to a larger conversation.”

That philosophy has led to Justin putting his support toward Purina Dog Chow’s “Service Salute” category at the New York Dog Film Festival Oct. 23, which centers around the impact service dogs have on the mental health of veterans suffering from PTSD.

Specifically, Justin noted how Dog Chow—which aims to increase the percentage of veterans who receive care from service dogs—and its mission immediately captured his attention.

“They were actually trying to educate America on how important service dogs are for veterans who have PTSD, and how hard it is to get a service dog,” the actor explained. “It's very expensive to train them. It takes a lot of people power and hours.”

But while Justin centers on impact in his work, he’s also been learning to pump the brakes when it comes to focusing on his own happily ever after with his real family.

“One of the things that's been really important to me recently has just been reprioritizing how I spend my time,” Justin detailed. “I'm really making an effort to reprioritize my time so that I don't get lost.”

And the dad of two shared how he’s cracked the code when it comes to feeling complete.

“I have enough when I'm with my kids,” he explained, “when I'm with my family, when I'm present with them, when I'm not on my phone. That's when I have enough and that's when I am enough.”
