Luke Bryan will be there for Daisy Dove unconditionally.

The American Idol judge revealed that he still keeps in touch with his former costar Katy Perry—who left the singing competition series this year after seven seasons as a judge—and her family.

"Katy and I text every now and then, and I check on her," Luke exclusively told E! News at the 2024 CMA Awards Nov. 20. "Being on that show with her for seven years, me and her and Orlando, we all developed a great friendship together."

Luke—who shares sons Thomas "Bo" Boyer Bryan, 16, and Tatum "Tate" Christopher Bryan, 14, with wife Caroline Bryan—also shared his love for Katy and Orlando's 3-year-old daughter, even revealing the sweet nickname she calls him.

"It’s always nice to see how they’re doing and see how Daisy’s doing," he noted. "And maybe Daisy will call me Uncle Luke for a long time."

But now that Katy has left the American Idol family, he's been welcoming her replacement Carrie Underwood into the fold.

“The thing about it is Carrie has to kind of learn in real time,” Luke told E!. “You kind of have to learn how to be a judge. It’s not like you can go to American Idol Judging School.”

However, considering Carrie won the show in 2005, the country singer quipped, "She went to American Idol Be A Contestant School.”

“She’s awesome with the kids,” he added. “She has the best soul and heart. She’s doing a great job and really settling into the judging table.”

After all, Carrie has been candid about how her time on the ABC show two decades ago really shaped what she knows about the music industry.

"I learned a lot, I learned an insane amount," she told the Must Watch Show in 2022. "And so much of that is still applied today, it still holds true to what I do now. It was star boot camp and I was trying to soak in as much as I possibly could and, obviously, it launched my career."
