Twinning passports to Paris!
Mary-Kate Olsen and Ashley Olsen took a rare outing together in Paris Nov. 20. The 38-year-old twins enjoyed a festive stroll through Place Vendôme, which was adorned with lights for the holidays.
The duo both wore floor-length black trench coats, with Mary-Kate wearing hers over brown pants, a white shirt and black boots. She was extra bundled up with a patterned scarf hanging around her neck.
Meanwhile, Ashley—who shares son Otto, 15 months, with husband Louis Eisner—wore patterned black pants and socks with slides. She accessorized her look with a black purse on her arm.
When the Billboard Dad stars—who famously prefer life outside the spotlight these days—noticed that they were being photographed, Ashley immediately ducked her face behind her arm and Mary-Kate soon followed suit.
The famously private sisters' rare sighting in Paris comes two months after The Row designers opened their brand's first store in continental Europe in the City of Love.
"We've been looking for years," Ashley told Vogue of the new storefront. "We wanted to be in Paris before we opened in London, but we didn't find anything here first. Then, 18 months ago, a friend told us about this place."
"It has to be a nice experience for the community—a sense of the store being local," she told the outlet of The Row's retail locations, which also include New York, Los Angeles, London and the Hamptons. "We want the experience to be unique and special. Their experience is as important to us as anything else we do."
The Full House alum added that her team goes through hiccups just like everyone else, but they're used to rolling with the punches.
"You need to be very agile, and to make adjustments, so opening the doors and learning one day at a time … that's very us," Ashley shared. "This may not be the most obvious place to be in Paris—we looked at almost every major street in the city—but we're very happy here."
The sisters don't often do interviews and have shied away from making many public appearances in the years since they left acting, but they did admit that they "were raised discreet people" in one of their rare interviews.
"I think that potentially that's just our aesthetic, our design preference," Mary-Kate told i-D Magazine in 2021. "But that doesn't mean that we don't also appreciate something truly ornate or maximal. Sometimes a collection even starts quite like that, and then gets pared down. It doesn't always start from that simplistic place."
