Watch: NASA Reveals New Plan to Return Stranded Astronauts to Earth

This Thanksgiving feast was out of this world—literally.

Sunita "Suni" Williams and and Barry “Butch” Wilmore may be stranded in space for a little bit longer but the American astronauts still managed to stay grounded as they celebrated Thanksgiving aboard the International Space Station. And yep, that included all the trimmings—with a bit of a twist.

“We have a bunch of food that we’ve packed away that is Thanksgiving-ish,” Williams, 58, told NBC Nightly News with Lester Holt from the ISS on Nov. 27 “Some smoked turkey, some cranberry, apple cobbler, green beans and mushrooms and mashed potatoes.”

However, their Thanksgiving prep may look a bit different to those celebrating from Earth as at the International Space Station all food is in dehydrated pouches until ready to be consumed.

But the turkey dinner isn't the only tradition Williams, Wilmore and the five others aboard the ISS —including two American and three Russian astronauts—are partaking in. Williams revealed she planned on tuning into see Savannah Guthrie and Hoda Kotb host the Macy's Thanksgiving Day Parade before tucking into their meal.

Of course, when Williams and Wilmore, 60, arrived at the ISS back in June, they hadn't anticipated spending the holiday season in orbit. After all, their eight-day trip to space turned into an indefinite visit after their Boeing Starliner vessel experienced a series of malfunctions during the 26-hour journey to the Station.

And while she understands the concern people may have, she doesn't see any need for stress.

“We’re feeling good, working out, eating right,” she noted. “We have a lot of fun up here, too. So, you know, people are worried about us. Really, don’t worry about us.”

Williams and Wilmore aren't the only ones who managed to put their own spin on Thanksgiving. Keep reading to see how more stars rang in the holiday.
