This sports star sure can sing.
A beloved NFL player was eliminated during The Masked Singer's Dec. 4 episode despite showcasing some unexpected powerhouse vocals on the Fox singing competition series.
Before taking the stage to perform an impressive cover of "Iris" by the Goo Goo Dolls during the quarter finals, the mystery celebrity—disguised as his character Goo—shared more hints about his true identity and secret passion for music.
"It's been really meaningful to hear the panel's comment because—spoiler alert—I don't do this for a living," Goo teased the judges in a video. "I've always been a Goo with two dreams: Singing and what you might know me for in real life. And everyone said I couldn't do both, but I never wavered. Being here has been the time of my life, a test drive of my other passion—and who knows what will come next."
Following his performance, judges Jenny McCarthy and Robin Thicke noted Goo's vocal abilities were shocking given he's not a professional singer. Their praise, plus a surprise message from his fiancée, brought Goo to tears.
"This person has meant the world to me," he reacted to his wife-to-be's kind words. "I can't imagine doing life without her. I get emotional because I'm just so glad I can share this with you guys."
As for the judges' guesses? Rita Ora picked John Cena, Ken Jeong chose Shaquille O'Neal and Robin guessed Los Angeles Rams defensive lineman Aaron Donald. However, Jenny was the only one who correctly guessed it was Rams defensive end Kobie Turner.
"My biggest goal is to be able to show that we're so much more than just athletes," Kobie shared after his unmasking. "It's brought so much healing to my life to be able to sing out here on this stage."
