Josh Allen Shares Sweet Insight Into His Proposal to Hailee Steinfeld

And indeed, a special day it was. After all, Hailee, 27, walked out to a field with an arch adorned with flowers and candles elegantly displayed overlooking the shimmering water at sunset. 

As for what he said while down on one knee? "I said I couldn't wait any longer," he shared. "I said I can't wait to start a family with you. I said your full name, and I asked you very nicely. I said please."

Following the grand gesture, Josh was relieved everything went according to plan.

"I didn't blow it nor did anyone else," he said. "You were extremely surprised, you said yes, and that was all that mattered to me. And the sun was out."

The NFL player also couldn't help but gush over life as a fiancé. "It feels unbelievable," he added, "to be engaged to someone who is so special and loving and caring and gorgeous and fun and happy."

For her part, Hailee plans to share her side in the future when she's ready.

"While I can't wait to tell you more about the day and things we're planning, I'm not ready quite yet," she explained in her newsletter. "I have to hold this close for a little while longer."

However, she did provide some insight into her feelings. "All the happy tears have just barely dried," Hailee added. "Whenever we tell the story, look back at photos, or even say 'We're engaged' or 'We're getting married' I start crying."
