Everybody wants this.
Erin Foster's hit Netflix series Nobody Wants This—starring Adam Brody and Kristen Bell—is coming back for a second season, thanks to its massive success on the streaming platform.
So massive, in fact, that it received three nominations for the 2025 Emmys: Outstanding Lead Actor in a Comedy Series, Outstanding Lead Actress in a Comedy Series and Outstanding Comedy Series.
"Creating Nobody Wants This will forever be a career highlight for me," Foster, the daughter of music producer David Foster, said in an October statement. "The incredible cast, crew, producers and executives all made this into the show it is today, and to experience viewers' reactions to this series now that it's out in the world has been more than anything I could have dreamed."
"I'm so lucky to be able to continue this story," she continued, "and to do it alongside Jenni Konner and Bruce Eric Kaplan, who I've been such a fan of since Girls…Justice for healthy relationships being the most romantic!"
Indeed, the success of the series—which centers on a blossoming romance between an agnostic sex podcaster Joanne (Bell) and rabbi Noah (Brody)—is extra special for Foster, who loosely based the show on her own relationship with husband Simon Tikhman.
As for what fans can expect next from Nobody Wants This? Well, after Noah and Joanne (spoiler!) reunited during the show's season one finale, it sounds like we'll continue to see their relationship develop.
Foster herself told Indiwire in September that she'd like to "pick up where we leave off and continue to take it slow, because I don't want us to get too far ahead of ourselves."
Actress Jackie Tohn, who portrays Joanne's frenemy Esther in the series, also teased a closer look into each character's backstory.
"Especially with Netflix and a half-hour show—you have so much information to get out, and I think our show did that masterfully," she told E! News in November. "It didn’t feel like we were just laying groundwork, there was real stories there. And I think for season two, we’re just gonna go deeper on everybody.”
As for a timeline on season two production?
“We’re starting in February," Tohn confirmed, "and the writers’ room is already up and running."
