Watch: Wendy Williams Slams Conservatorship in Rare Interview: Biggest Bombshells Revealed!

More than three years after Wendy Williams went off the air, the former talk show host has some hot topics she’s like to address.

Though guardian Sabrina Morrisey said in a November legal filing that the 60-year-old “has become cognitively impaired and permanently incapacitated,” that’s not the case, Wendy insisted.

“I am not cognitively impaired,” she told host Charlamagne tha God on the Jan. 16 episode of The Breakfast Club. “But I feel like I’m in prison.”

Sitting down for her first interview since her dementia diagnosis became public and the February release of the Where is Wendy Williams? Lifetime documentary, Wendy and her niece Alex Finnie said that she is “trapped” in a conservatorship, alleging she has been forced to live with prison-like for the past three years while living in a New York facility.

And though Wendy—whose care team shared her diagnoses with primary progressive aphasia and frontotemporal dementia in February—said she was somewhat restricted on what she could share due to her ongoing legal battle over her conservatorship, she by no means held back. Keep reading to see what she had to say about life in her “luxury prison” and her allegations of being denied basic necessities.

Bombshells from Wendy Williams: What a Mess!

Wendy Williams Denies Claims That She Is Cognitively Impaired

Wendy alleged that she is “trapped” in a conservatorship based on claims she said were fabricated by her guardian Sabrina.

“I am not cognitively impaired,” she insisted while calling into The Breakfast Club to speak with former cohost Charlamagne, plus DJ Envy and guest host Loren LaRosa. “But I feel like I’m in prison.”

She’s certainly being denied her freedoms, added niece Alex. “She is being held and she is being punished,” Alex added, “for whatever reason that other people are coming up with as to why she has to be kept in this position.”

And having spent three years living in what she calls, “a luxury prison,” Wendy expressed feelings of alienation among the other residents in her unknown New York facility.

“I’m in this place where people in their 90s and 80s, and even when people are in their 60s like me,” she explained. “There’s something wrong with these people here on this floor.”

“I am definitely isolated,” she added, “to talk to those people that live here—that is not my cup of tea.”

Ultimately, Alex alleged that Sabrina has been taking advantage of people’s unfamiliarity with her aunt’s quirks to advance the claims that Wendy is cognitively impaired.

“Don’t try to twist who she is as if, ‘Oh there’s something wrong with her.’” Alex said. “You just don’t know her.”

Wendy Williams Calls Her Home a "Luxury Prison"

While the former talk show host’s family lives in Miami, the 60-year-old shared insight into the conditions she’s lived with in the New York City center she calls a “prison.” Along with needing someone to provide her a key to even leave her room, Wendy detailed the complete isolation she said she’s experienced in recent years.

“For the last three years, I’ve spent my birthday by myself. That’s fine, I would rather spend my birthday by myself than spend my birthday with these people on this floor,” she explained. “This is what is called emotional abuse.”

Wendy and her niece also alleged that the facility had been preventing her friends and family from visiting her. Loren added that, when she recently tried to visit Wendy, the facility lied to her about Wendy’s residency there, despite telling them that she was actively on the phone with Wendy.

“I sit here,” Wendy noted, “and watch my life go by.”

Wendy said that her access to those outside the facility is limited as well. As she put it to her niece, “I can call you, but you can’t call me.”

That alleged lack of access has “been the reality since 2023,” Alex added, saying that Wendy spends most of her time isolated and alone. “She’s there every day, all hours of the day, every week, every month. She’s not getting proper sunlight.

Wendy Williams and Her Niece Alex Finnie Allege "Guardian Abuse"

Along with her allegation of a life of isolation, Wendy and her niece expressed concerns about the New Jersey native’s access to proper healthcare and “basic necessities.”

“My aunt hasn’t had, from what I understand, a medical evaluation to see if her rights can be restored,” Alex shared, adding that Sabrina “has made it difficult every which way for my aunt to be able to live any sort of healthy, independent life.”

“It’s almost as if she doesn’t want my aunt to show that she’s healthy and independent,” Alex continued. “Because as we know about these guardianships and as my aunt has said, the system’s broken. The longer she’s under this guardianship, the longer they have the keys to her life.”

And while alleging that someone else controlling her entire world, Wendy said she was left with little hope.

Insisting that she had none of her money on hand, Wendy said she has just $15 and no financial freedom. “This system is broken,” Wendy said, saying she’s been dealing with “emotional abuse.”

Among the issues, Alex said there are “a lot of things go unchecked.” And she raised awareness for the “over 280,000 people” suffering what she believed her aunt was going through.

“Yes, we want her to live with dignity and be able to move on with her life,” she said of Wendy, “but her story is a fight that many other people are going through as well.”

Wendy Williams Reacts to Sean "Diddy" Combs' Legal Troubles

Having a bit of history with Sean “Diddy” Combs—who got Wendy fired after she commented on his sexuality on her Hot 97 radio show, Charlamagne alleged on an episode of Flagrant podcast last year—Wendy naturally has thoughts on his current legal troubles.

“When I watch TMZ and I see the stuff that goes on, I’m like ‘Oh my gosh,’” she said of the rapper’s ongoing case, “and then all of a sudden I see me on TMZ. It’s really weird seeing me on TV when I’m caught in this position.”

As for the musician, Wendy predicts he’ll “go to prison for life,” adding, “You don’t know things that I knew about Diddy back in the day. And, you know what, it’s about time people. It’s about time.”

And while Diddy is awaiting trial and has pleaded not guilty to his charges of racketeering, sex trafficking by force and transportation to engage in prostitution, Wendy ended her thoughts on the topic with a simple, “Diddy done.”

Why Wendy Williams Says Her Life is "F--ked Up"

With her father turning 94 in February, Wendy broke down in tears at the thought of being unable to fly to Miami to celebrate with him.

“I don’t know whether I’m allowed to fly to Miami to say happy birthday to my dad,” she said. “I don’t know that she’s going to let me.”

“At 94, the day after that is not promised,” she continued. “My life is f--ked up.”
