Gavin Rossdale Shares Rare Insight Into Gwen Stefani Marriage

Gavin Rossdale—who shares three kids with ex-wife Gwen Stefani—reminisced about a home they previously shared before their 2015 breakup.

The love that exes Gavin Rossdale and Gwen Stefani built was once as strong as cement.

The Bush singer—who finalized his divorce from Stefani in 2016—recently took a trip down memory lane, to a time when he and the No Doubt frontwoman were just a couple renovating their Los Angeles home, years before Jesse Tyler Ferguson bought the property with his husband Justin Mikita.

"There was a little observation deck," the Modern Family alum said on the March 18 episode of his podcast Dinner's On Me. "We developed it a little bit more, we put a fire pit up there. But what we had to cover up was, there was a little piece of cement that had your names on it. Do you remember putting that in there?"

Rossdale responded, "Yeah. Established. Oh, man."

The 59-year-old—who was married to Stefani from 2002 to 2016 and shares with her sons Kingston Rossdale, 18, Zuma Rossdale, 16, and Apollo Rossdale, 11—said he had "unbelievable" memories of the home, located in the city's Los Feliz neighborhood.

"Because that was just such an exciting time," he said. "I was there for a number of years when we just were together. I was there when we first got married."

Stefani had bought the house in 1998 for almost $1.4 million, the Los Angeles Times reported. Per Trulia, she and her ex-husband sold the property to another buyer for almost $4.8 million in 2007, one year after they welcomed Kingston.

"We had our first kid there," Rossdale—also dad to model Daisy Lowe, 36—said, noting, "Gwen did do a beautiful job on the nursery."

Ferguson, who bought the property in 2013 for about $4.5 million and sold it in 2021 to Leonardo DiCaprio in 2021 for $7.1 million, said he and Mikita used the same room for their son Beckett Mercer Ferguson-Mikita, the eldest of their two children.

The home also suited Stefani and Rossdale's rocker lifestyles.

"We used to have amazing New Year's Eve parties every year," he recalled. "We never knew what to do, so it was easy to make the party come to us. So fantastic times. People would come out and that was right at the height of everything really fun, work-wise, it was a really great time for us. So I have a great memory of that house."

Since their divorce, Stefani and Rossdale have each found love, with her tying the knot with The Voice costar Blake Shelton in 2021. He meanwhile, is dating Xhoana Xheneti. Still, Last year, Rossdale has previously shared insight into his regrets regarding the end of his marriage to Stefani.

"My parents were both married three times each," Rossdale said on the podcast Amy and T.J. last March. "And so I never thought I'd ever get divorced. So if there's a simple shame in my life, it's that."

Neil reportedly fell in love with the TV producer while he was still married to his first wife, Jane Posner. Marcia married the singer-songwriter in 1969, had two of his children, sons Jesse and Micah, filed for divorce 25 years later, citing irreconcilable differences, and walked away with half of Neil's earnings—$150 million. However, Neil isn't bitter; he later said that "she's worth every penny."

Michael & Juanita Jordan

After 17 years together and an attempt at reconciliation, basketball star Michael Jordan and his wife, Juanita Jordan, officially divorced in 2006. The duo tied the knot in 1989 in Las Vegas and have three children together. In a massive divorce settlement, Michael reportedly shelled out $168 million.

Kenny Rogers & Marianne Gordon

Country crooner Kenny Rogers is no stranger to divorce—he's been married five times—but the most expensive split was with his fourth wife, Marianne Gordon. After 16 years of marriage and one child together, the couple divorced in 1993 and Rogers reportedly shelled out a cool $60 million.

Lionel & Diane Richie

Lionel Richie and Diane Alexander, a former dancer and fashion designer, called it quits in 2003 after seven years, two kids and a slew of irreconcilable differences. In Diane's alimony petition, she reportedly claimed a monthly clothing allowance of $15,000 as well as a plastic surgery budget of $20,000 a year. The payout? An estimated $20 million from Richie.

The Rolling Stones frontman married the model in 1990. Jerry filed for divorce in 1999 after she discovered Mick fathered a child with Brazilian model Luciana Morad. But after nine years together, Jerry was allegedly awarded $25 million in their divorce settlement.

Jeff Gordon & Brooke Sealey

The Daytona 500 winner married Brooke in 1994, only to divorce eight years later in 2002. Although the former couple didn't have any children together Jeff still coughed up a hefty settlement—a reported $15 million.
