You don’t want to wait for Joshua Jackson’s update on his friendship with Katie Holmes.
Over 20 years after Dawson’s Creek ended in 2003, Joshua—who starred as Pacey opposite to Katie’s Joey in the teen drama series—shared where he stands with Katie, as well as other costars like Michelle Williams, Busy Phillips and James Van Der Beek.
“Katie and I are very close,” Joshua explained on Jesse Tyler Ferguson’s Dinner’s on Me podcast. “Busy and Michelle are very, very close.”
As for how they stay in touch? “It’s not a daily call,” the 46-year-old added. “Sometimes it’s not a weekly or monthly or even a half-yearly call, but when you’re together—there’s always that, ‘I know, you know.’”
And the Doctor Odyssey star explained how the former castmates are supporting James amid his cancer diagnosis.
“James is going through something really truly terrible right now,” Joshua shared. “And I wish I could take credit for this, but I was kind of the absentee partner here, but the girls all got together and were like, ‘We need to do something to help this guy out.’”
Despite each cast member living separate lives, Joshua emphasized that they are all able to quickly come together when they need it.
“There’s probably no other people in your life that you are that forged to,” he continued. “‘Cause you had to go through good and bad and ‘F--k you’ and ‘Don’t talk to me,’ and ‘I love you.’”
Joshua’s update on the Dawson’s Creek dynamic comes less than a month after Busy—who joined the cast as Audrey in season five—teased a possible reunion for the show’s cast.
“We’re really trying to figure something out, but there are a couple of people who have some work things that cannot be moved,” Busy told US Weekly last month. “It’s like playing chess, trying to get everybody’s schedules to align. I’m very hopeful that at some point we will.”
But unfortunately for fans, any Dawson’s reunion would likely be a a meet-up of the actors, rather than a reboot of any kind. As Katie told Screen Rant in 2022, “It’s like, ‘Do we want to see them not at that age?’ We all decided we don’t actually.”
