Meghan Markle and Prince Harry’s son Archie is growing up.
After all, the Duchess of Sussex recently celebrated the 6-year-old’s birthday by sharing a rare photo of him looking tall as he stands with his back to the camera, taking in a sunset in a pair of striped pajamas.
“Our son,” Meghan wrote in the May 6 Instagram post. “Our sun. Happy 6th birthday to Archie! Thank you for all of the love, prayers, and warm wishes for our sweet boy. He’s six! Where did the time go?”
And while Archie officially celebrated his golden birthday May 6, he had a big celebration already. As she added in her post, “And for all of you who came to celebrate with us at his party last weekend, thank you for making his birthday so incredibly special.”
Meghan, 43, and Harry—who also share 3-year-old Lilibet—have kept their kids out of the spotlight, but they have given occasional insight into family life in the past, with the Suits alum recently detailing how she wants her kids to remember her as a mother.
“I know that they'll feel like, 'Oh, my gosh, no one has ever loved someone more than the way our mom loved us,’” Meghan explained on an April episode of The Jamie Kern Lima Show. “And I put that in practice, you know, that's part of every day of how I show up for them.”
She even shared that she’s created special email addresses for each of her kids that she’ll share when they grow up—where she sends them updates about their childhood.
“Before I go to bed almost every night, I email them, because it doesn't have to be a heavy lift," she explained, “I email them like, ‘Here's your report card from today, or, 'Oh my gosh, you said the funniest thing this morning, or, ‘Here's a picture of you two having breakfast, or, 'Here's you playing with the dog.’”
Harry, meanwhile, has loved incorporating his kids into his charity the Invictus Games, by detailing how its players have gotten sick or injured. The 40-year-old noted that Archie is “especially” curious about the topic.
As he put it, “It becomes opening Pandora’s box, to some extent, especially with kids this age, because they have no filter, and they’re just so curious and so inquisitive!”
