Fashion school is in session and Jenna Ortega has the supplies.
The Wednesday actress made her third appearance at the Metropolitan Museum of Art's annual Costume Institute Benefit in New York City May 5 in a custom design by Balmain. Jenna, 22, ascended the blue stairs of the 2025 Met Gala in an all-metal dress made entirely out of rulers. (See all the stars who stepped out on the red carpet here.)
Staying on the gala’s “Tailored to You” theme, the strapless dress—designed by Balmain’s creative director Olivier Rousteing—was perfectly crafted to her frame. One of the biggest details included the fine ruler lines and numbers on that went across the bust of the gown.
For her glam, the Scream alum—who previously attended the gala in 2022 and 2023—donned an Old Hollywood-inspired look with hair in tight curls and an edgy eye and burgundy lip combo. As for her accessories, Jenna wore a choker by Grown Brilliance and a series of silver rings across her fingers.
Indeed, Jenna and the Balmain team used the rulers to channel the “Superfine: Tailoring Black Style” theme with an ode to pattern makers.
“Jenna Ortega at the Met Gala 2025: Tailored for You,” the fashion house announced on Instagram May 5. “In custom Balmain by @olivier_rousteing, @jennaortega wore a sculpted gown crafted entirely from metallic rulers, a nod to the instruments of patternmakers.”
Jenna celebrated her look and the team who helped bring it to life.
"Met Gala 2025 @olivier_rousteing @balmain. You are always an inspiration," she wrote on Instagram alongside a BTS video of the dress being made May 6. "It’s been such an honor working with you & your team for a theme that celebrates your creativity & mind."
Jenna was in good style company during the evening as Balmain also dressed Priyanka Chopra, Rosalia and White Lotus star Patrick Schwarzenegger, who made his Met Gala debut in a tailored pinstriped suit with an accented yellow blouse.
After the festivities, Jenna switched it up opting to go pant-less in a blazer-inspired onesie designed by Balmain as she made her way inside of a Met Gala after-party with pal Sabrina Carpenter.
