Watch: 16 and Pregnant’s Whitney Purvis Arrested for Involuntary Manslaughter

Whitney Purvis is facing legal trouble.

The 16 and Pregnant star was arrested in Floyd County, Georgia, on July 7 for involuntary manslaughter, according to police records obtained E! News.

According to a statement of criminal charges shared by police with E! News, Purvis also faces two charges relating to controlled substances—the first, a felony charge for the possession with intent to distribute a controlled substance and the second a misdemeanor charge for the “use of communication facility in commission of a felony involving controlled substances.”

An affidavit for arrest obtained by E! News confirms the arrest is related to an incident from February 16.

“Whitney Blake Purvis did commit the offense of Aggravated Involuntary Manslaughter,” the affidavit reads, “when she, without intent to cause the death of another human being, intentionally distributed a substance presented as ‘Tranq,’ commonly known as Xylazine and Fentanyl, to the victim, which directly contributed in the victim's death due to a toxic overdose.”

16 and Pregnant's Whitney Purvis Says Ex Prevented Her From Attending Son Weston's Funeral

No bond had been set for the former MTV star at the time of publishing. E! News has reached out to Rome Police but did not receive additional comment.

Purvis' arrest comes just over one month after Purvis shared her son Weston Gosa Jr. died at the age of 16 on June 2. In the weeks following the announcement, Purvis shared more insight into his passing—including an accusation that her ex and Weston’s father, Weston Gosa, could have helped prevent his death.

“My son had diabetes, Addison's disease, and alpha one anti-trypsin deficiency, and he had no medical insurance,” Purvis wrote in a June 18 Facebook post, “but he had a life insurance policy taken out on him. His dad bought five cars in the last six months but couldn't pay for medical insurance.”

She added, “He brags about how much money he has and has the nerve to make a GoFundMe to help bury him when he was just going to cremate him anyway because it was the cheapest, plus he had the life insurance policy.”

Purvis also alleged her son should have had medical coverage under her custody agreement with her ex, with whom she also shares 11-year-old son River

“He should have had a Dexcom/glucose monitor that alerted when his sugar was going up or down to a dangerous level,” Purvis continued. “In our custody order, he was supposed to have medical insurance on our kids; that was part of our agreement. That just doesn't sit right with me.”

E! News reached out to Gosa for comment at the time but has not heard back.

Prior to her arrest, Purvis shared insight into how she was managing following Weston’s death.

"I can't distract myself," she told People in an interview published June 5. "It's going through my mind constantly. I hate to even pick up my phone."

"When I'm not crying,” she continued, “I'm just staring at the ceiling. I never wanted to go through something like this. I mean, I know no one does, but you never think it'll happen to you. And I just can't even imagine a future now. I can't imagine going on after this."
