Nothing dead in the Wednesday universe stays that way for long.
Just take a look Slurp—a long-deceased, clockwork-hearted boy who is reanimated by Pugsley Addams (Isaac Ordonez) in the first half of season two. So, it should come as no surprise that in the part two trailer, Professor Weems (Gwendoline Christie) returns to both aggravate and aid Wednesday (Jenna Ortega)—despite being murdered in season one.
The trailer opens with Wednesday in a hospital bed after her violent confrontation with Tyler (Hunter Doohan) in his Hyde form. After opening her eyes and sitting up a-la Dracula, Wednesday is confronted with a mindboggling sight: her dead former principal is standing in front of her offering her a sponge bath.
Wednesday jumps to the only possible conclusion: “What ring of hell is this?”
Ever the teacher, Weems corrects her, “This isn’t hell, Ms. Adams. But I understand the confusion.”
And when Wednesday asks how their meeting is possible if the student hasn’t joined her former head of school in the beyond, Weems drops the bomb: “Because I am your new spirit guide. Surprise!”
Indeed, after Wednesday’s former guide Goody Addams sacrificed herself at the end of season one to save Wednesday from her injuries, Weems has apparently been tapped to step in as the Addams daughter’s new psychic teacher.
But unlike Goody, Weems has apparently decided to make herself a much more present figure in Wednesday’s day to day life. During a conversation between Enid (Emma Myers) and Wednesday—during which Enid reminds Wednesday Tyler’s escape is actually her fault—Weems chimes in, “She’s got a point you know.”
Other than revealing Weems’ surprising return, the trailer for part-two shares a sneak peek at how the students of Nevermore must band together to try and stop Tyler and his murderous rampage as the Hyde. But, not without bumps along the way.
As Morticia (Catherine Zeta-Jones) tells her daughter, “Every family has dark chapters, Wednesday.”
And the Addams family seem to be living through one of their darkest. As an image of a broken Addams family grave is shown, a voiceover from Weems warns, “If you don’t hurry, you’ll have nothing left to save.”
