Andy Reid had a dangerously close call at work.
The Kansas City Chiefs coach was just 15 feet away from a bullet that pierced through his office's glass in May 2024, according to a new report from The Kansas City Star.
Reid—who has taken the Patrick Mahomes-led team to the Super Bowl for three consecutive wins since 2023—was working alone at midnight on May 4 in the team's practice facility when a bullet was fired, according to the Kansas City Police Department incident report obtained by the outlet.
"When officers arrived, they were told by overnight security that someone in the building alerted them to hearing a noise and observed what appeared to be a bullet hole in a window," KCPD spokesperson Capt. Jacob Becchina told E! News in a statement. "No one was struck, and there were no injuries associated with the incident."
In the 15 months since shots were fired, Becchina shared that despite an ongoing investigation, no arrests or charges have been made. He explained to The Star, "There is no indication this was a targeted incident at any person or organization."
Instead, he explained, "Because the building was occupied at the time of the bullet coming through the window, the case is being investigated as an aggravated assault."
Although the incident was kept under wraps, the outlet noted that the team did opt for bulletproof glass in Reid's office in the aftermath.
E! News has reached out to the Kansas City Police Department and the Kansas City Chiefs for comment and has not yet heard back.
The shooting occurred three months after the NFL team earned its second consecutive Super Bowl win against the San Francisco 49ers. For Reid, coaching the Missouri-based squad since 2013 has been a dream.
"It's a little bit surreal," he told reporters of their 2024 Super Bowl win. "Back-to-back is very rare for this football team and this organization. It's a great win 'cause I know how hard it is to do and then how hard the season was—the ups and downs of the season."
He was sure to shine a lot on his players, including tight end Travis Kelce. He emphasized how proud he was "of the guys for just hanging with each other and staying positive with each other."
