Jennifer Lopez is getting loud about the emotions that come with sending kids back to school.
The singer, 56, shared on Aug. 25 that she had just dropped off Emme, 17, off for their first day of their senior year of high school, and it was making her nostalgic for their special moments together.
"I just dropped off this little coconut to their first day of senior year," she wrote in the Instagram Story atop a photo of Emme snuggling up to mama. "Looking back at this photo from a few years ago, it just reminds me that they'll always be my beautiful baby!"
She also shared a peek into their celebratory breakfast commemorating the occasion, with "Senior Year" written in chocolate on a plate with strawberries and whipped cream next to plates of bacon and french toast.
Before the school year kicked off, Jennifer—who also shares Emme's twin Max, 17, with ex-husband Marc Anthony—has been soaking up the sun with her kids, including during a trip to the Hamptons with Emme, one of their last summer memories together two days before the first day of school.
In the post shared to Instagram Aug. 23, Jennifer took the teen for a ride with her vocal coach Stevie Mackey, who was driving them in a Jeep as Jennifer and Emme's hair blew in the wind.
Earlier this summer, the "On The Floor" singer explained what it's like to raise two kids while in the spotlight—and she noted it's more normal than one might think.
“I'm so just mom to them that they don’t really get involved with my work too much,” she told E! News in May. “They don't even know I'm doing the American Music Awards. I have to fill them in when we're having dinner.”
Rather, they stick to discussing more everyday topics like getting their homework done.
“We’re talking more about school,” she continued. “We’re talking about their friends at school and their homework and making sure they're getting their stuff done. That's our conversations, and how they're doing and how they're feeling and all that.”
And while J.Lo noted that to her kids, her life on stage is just their mom "going to work," it always makes her feel good to know that her children are proud of her—a recent occasion being when they got excited over her movies, like her upcoming adaptation of Kiss of the Spider Woman.
“Your kids are your toughest audience,” she explained. “The reason that's such a big deal is because, when they're teenagers, you are the most uncool person in the world. They don't care what you do or what you're doing. But when I heard that, I was like, ‘Oh, they do care.’”
