This security detail is no longer so secret.

President Donald Trump has revoked former Vice President Kamala Harris’ Secret Service detail, a senior adviser to Harris told NBC News on August 29.

“The Vice President is grateful to the United States Secret Service,” the adviser shared, “for their professionalism, dedication, and unwavering commitment to safety.”

Though vice presidents usually only get six months of protection when they leave office—compared to presidents and their spouses who get it for life—former President Joe Biden signed an executive memorandum in January which extended Harris’ protection from what would have been July 21 to an 18-month period. However, the 82-year-old’s order had never been made public until now.

In an August 28 letter titled Memorandum for the Secretary of Homeland Security” and obtained by CNN, Trump wrote, “You are hereby authorized to discontinue any security-related procedures previously authorized by Executive Memorandum, beyond those required by law, for the following individual, effective September 1, 2025: Former Vice President Kamala D. Harris.”

E! News reached out to the White House for comment but has not yet heard back.

Trump previously revoked Secret Service protection for Biden’s two kids Hunter Biden and Ashley Biden in March.

“Hunter Biden has had Secret Service protection for an extended period of time, all paid for by the United States Taxpayer,” Trump wrote on Truth Social at the time. “There are as many as 18 people on this Detail, which is ridiculous!”

“He is currently vacationing in, of all places, South Africa, where the Human Rights of people has been strenuously questioned,” he continued. “Because of this, South Africa has been taken off our list of Countries receiving Economic and Financial Assistance. Please be advised that, effective immediately, Hunter Biden will no longer receive Secret Service protection. Likewise, Ashley Biden who has 13 agents will be taken off the list.”

Meanwhile, for Harris, she is now heading out on a promotional tour for her new memoir 107 Days, which chronicles her short bid for the presidency.

“Writing 107 Days felt like living the campaign in reverse,” Kamala wrote on Instagram about the book, hitting shelves September 23, “rewinding each moment and experiencing it all over again. Behind every speech I gave, hand I shook, and story I told on the road, there were deeper layers, quiet reflections, and lessons learned.”

She continued, “This book is not a recap of our race. It is a candid and personal account of my journey—the shortest presidential campaign in modern history. I can’t wait for you to read it.”
