The 2025 MTV Video Music Awards proved brighter days are already here.
The annual award show honoring the best music videos from the last year has come and gone, with Lady Gaga walking away the biggest winner, taking home four Moon Person trophies during the Sept. 7 ceremony.
The “Abracadabra” singer was followed by Sabrina Carpenter and Ariana Grande with three, while Bruno Mars and Tate McRae each took home two.
The ceremony also saw Mariah Carey honored with the annual Video Vanguard Award, given to artists for their “outstanding contributions” and who have made a “profound impact” on music videos and popular culture.
And indeed, over the years Mariah has been nominated for eight VMAs. The 56-year-old made her debut at the award show back in 1991, where she performed her song “Emotions.”
This year, the music icon took to the stage once again to perform a medley of her greatest hits, including “Sugar Sweet,” “Fantasy” and “Honey."
Another performer who had a lot to celebrate was Sabrina, who entered this year’s ceremony with eight nominations for “Manchild” and her Short n Sweet album.
For the occasion, she wore a custom, red lace Valentina gown on the carpet, complete with lavender furred stole. For her performance, she wore changed into a beaded mini dress and sparkling tights.
Much like Mariah, performer Ricky Martin also took to the stage with an extra honor bolstering him: the 53-year-old received the Latin Icon Award at this year’s ceremony. Plus, this year’s performance marked the 26th anniversary of his first VMAs performance—where he made history as the first male Latin artist to win for Best Pop Video.
So, with so much to celebrate, it only makes sense the nominees, winners and performers didn’t let the night stop when the ceremony came to a close.
