Detective Benson and Stabler aren’t just arresting heinous criminals.
They’re also competing for the top trophy—and exchanging low blows while at it. After the Law & Order: SVU icons appeared at the 2025 Emmy Awards, Christopher Meloni shared a video of Mariska Hargitay teasing him about his Emmy status.
In his Sept. 14 Instagram post, the Law & Order: Organized Crime actor, 64, showed a clip of him recording a table filled with gold statues. But before he could end the video, Mariska couldn’t help but poke fun at her close friend’s zero Emmy wins.
“You’ll never have that,” the 61-year-old quipped, laughing once she realized he was recording. Christopher then jokingly replied, “You see what I go through? You see what I deal with?”
While a lighthearted interaction, Mariska’s words are a reminder of the small recognition Christopher has received from the Emmys over the years. Throughout his entire career—including his 12-year run on SVU—he only scored one nomination for Outstanding Lead Actor in a Drama Series in 2006, which ultimately went to Kiefer Sutherland for 24.
Meanwhile, Mariska has racked up eight nominations and won two: one for Outstanding Lead Actress in 2006 and a News and Documentary trophy in 2019 for co-producing HBO’s crime film, I Am Evidence.
As for their latest reunion, Christopher and Mariska didn’t just make memories backstage. The duo also shared a bonding moment onstage, when they presented the award for Outstanding Drama Series alongside other Law & Order universe actors Tony Goldwyn, Ice-T and S. Epatha Merkerson.
And while this reunion was a win for Law & Order fans, there are still many viewers who want to know if Benson and Stabler will finally embrace their slow burn romance. And according to Mariska, the crime fighting characters are leaning closer to becoming official.
“Maybe on the last episode,” she told Alex Cooper on the July 25 episode of the Call Her Daddy podcast. “I think that’s when they should be together.”
