The Gossip Girl alum recently offered a sweet look inside her home—as well as the new treat she baked for one of her and husband Ryan Reynolds’ daughters: a bunny-shaped cake.
“I saw a beautiful quote along with a well loved child stuffy that said ‘To be loved, is to be changed forever.’ This bunny has been so loved, so purely for so long,” Blake wrote on her Oct. 2 Instagram post, which sees her comparing her cake to the worn-out stuffed animal. “She is a family member. So of course, I had to turn her into cake.”
However, creating an edible rabbit wasn’t Blake’s original plan. In fact, the 38-year-old—who shares kids James, 10, Inez, 8, Betty, 5, and Olin, 2, with Ryan—revealed she was “making a vanilla cake” at first, but after finding the toy, she decided to “make a Cinnabon bun flavored cake,” a nod to her daughter’s “favorite treat.”
Though the It Ends With Us actor didn’t reveal which daughter inspired her to create this dessert, she certainly paid attention to detail.
“I made a cream cheese pound cake (because I wanted the moisture but also the crunchy toasty outside) as two layers of sheet cake but added cinnamon to the batter,” she explained of the recipe, showing the step-by-step process in the photos. “Then I made a cinnamon butter sugar filling like you would for cinnamon buns and used it as icing between the layers of cake.”
Instead of keeping the toy’s original blue color, Blake used the “cream cheese icing” to make her cake white and pale yellow. She also stuffed the edible bunny’s ears with sprinkles, including adding a small heart on the face.
As for how she grades the creation?
“New. Favorite. Cake.,” she gushed. “So. SO. Good.”
And when Blake isn’t using her kids’ beloved toys as muse for food, she’s giving them the clothes off her back—literally. While her family traveled to Austin for vacation in March, the Another Simple Favor star revealed how she helped keep her little one’s feet safe.
“Your kid forgets their shoes, but you have yours on,” she captioned her Instagram post that month. “So naturally, you [give] them yours. Then you mom hack. Paper bags [check], no shoes [check], no problem [check].”
