Kim Kardashian’s new show will surely be the talk of the ton.
And it’s no surprise as the Kardashians star has teamed up with Bridgerton creator Chris Van Dusen to bring the Netflix show Calabasas to life, with Kim, 45, confirming the news by resharing Deadline’s post about it to her Instagram Stories.
As for Chris, he confirmed that he is thrilled to be teaming up with Kim and her American Horror Story costar Emma Roberts, who is also set to produce the series, writing in an Oct. 24 post alongside the Deadline article, “Been dreaming of this collab.”
The TV producer—who worked on Grey’s Anatomy, Private Practice and Scandal before creating Bridgerton and acting as showrunner for seasons one and season two—tagged both Kim and Emma, adding, “LET’S GO.”
Chris has replaced Pretty Little Liars creator I. Marlene King, according to multiple outlets, and will act as Calabasas’ showrunner.
The upcoming Netflix show is based on Via Bleidner’s 2021 If You Lived Here You’d Be Famous By Now and follows the story of Via, a 16-year-old who, according to the book’s synopsis, transfers “to Calabasas High from the private Catholic school she’s attended since second grade” and experiences “culture shock, not to mention absolutely lonely.”
As of now, no additional details have been released about the drama series, but Kim has established herself as a Bridgerton fan—and the love between her and the cast goes both ways as star Nicola Coughlan sharing that meeting Kim was her favorite celebrity fan interaction.
“My close personal friend Kim Kardashian,” Nicola joked during a 2021 Q&A with the cast. “My best friend.”
The 38-year-old—who portrays the character of Penelope Featherington on the series—shared that she and Kim were messaging at the time, with the Skims founder asking her all sorts of questions about the show.
“She’s so nice,” Nicola gushed. “She has a Bridgerton WhatsApp group. She’s seen it six times or something.”
And Lady Whistledown herself dubbed her, “Lady Kardashian of Calabasas.”
