Gypsy Rose Blanchard is sharing a beauty secret.
As the 34-year-old—who shares daughter Aurora, 11 months, with boyfriend Ken Urker—continues to sport wigs in her social media content, she recently answered a fan’s question about her fashion statement.
“This is my natural hair,” Gypsy explained in a Nov. 26 Instagram Story, showing off a pixie-length haircut. “I had to cut it really short because nearly two years of bleaching it completely fried it.”
But despite the choice to prioritize her hair health, Gypsy admitted that she doesn’t feel her best with her new look—hence the wigs.
“I don’t feel confident with short hair,” Gypsy explained. “So I normally wear a high-quality wig while my real hair grows back healthy.”
As she put it, “I’m giving my hair a fresh start so it can grow long again.”
This isn’t the first time Gypsy has gotten candid about changing her look. Shortly after her release from prison for conspiring to kill her mother Clauddine “Dee Dee” Blanchard in December 2023, she got a nose job and told E! News at the time, “I’m very proud of my new nose.”
“It's subtle,” she explained last May. “I still look like me. But it's definitely given me self-confidence.”
And while her hair has ultimately returned to its natural color, Gypsy also gave insight into why she chose to bleach her hair in the months immediately following her prison release.
“I love my new look,” she added. “The blonde gave me a little bit of an ego boost. Blondes have more fun.”
Gypsy underwent yet another transformation after welcoming Aurora in December 2024, noting she lost over 25 pounds months after giving birth. Indeed, the Life After Lockup star has emphasized that she will never stop changing up her look to how she’s feeling.
"It's never too late to start reinventing yourself, even if it is something subtle like a new hairstyle,” Gypsy wrote in a since-deleted Instagram post a month after her prison release in January 2024. “Enjoy life, express yourself in whatever creative ways that may make you happy.”
