Angela Bassett and Courtney B. Vance's Daughter Bronwyn Makes Her Debutante Ball Debut in Paris

The 9-1-1 actress admitted that she was initially surprised by the opportunity, telling Hello! Magazine in an interview published Nov. 29 that it "felt a little out of the blue initially."

"I wouldn't think it a normal occurrence to be vetted and invited onto a world stage at such an age," she explained, but emphasized that she has "no trepidations whatsoever," and "was swept away" by her daughter's excitement.

"Bronwyn has a spirit of graciousness," the 67-year-old shared. "She is at ease and seeks to put others at ease in whatever situation she finds herself."

As for how the Harvard student earned an invitation to the gala? She was introduced to the world of deb balls by a family friend before Le Bal's organizer Ophélie Renouard reached out to the family.

"I love fashion and feeling like a princess, and this seemed like something I would love," Bronwyn gushed to the outlet. "I also recognized some of the girls who did it years prior and knew if they were doing it, it was a great event."

While the Le Bal is about glitz and glamour, Bronwyn—who debuted alongside Carolina Herrera's daughter Carolina Lansing, Lady Araminta Spencer-Churchill and more—sees the deeper meaning behind the experience.

"I think Le Bal is about being in a space with successful women who are around my age from all over the world–it's very rare that you can share such a beautiful night with accomplished young girls who are slowly reaching adulthood," the teen told Vogue in an interview published Nov. 30. "It's a moment to cherish friendships with women who have similar aspirations in life."

"But yet we are all so different," she continued, "so it's a chance to blossom and meet a lot of new people, which I feel like a lot of people don't get to do. I feel very blessed that I have this opportunity."
