Simone Biles is beaming in her new hairdo.
The Olympic gold medalist debuted fluffy curls while cheering on husband Jonathan Owens and the Chicago Bears, making a stark change from her usual pressed tresses.
In a Nov. 28 Instagram post, the gymnast sported a gray and orange Chicago Bears sweatshirt as she showed off her voluminous hair transformation with a smile. Although she was glammed up to root for her husband’s team as they defeated the Philadelphia Eagles, she took the time to acknowledge her new look, captioning the post, “Something a little different,” alongside a hair emoji.
The 28-year-old has been candid about her beauty regimen as of late, even opening up about her experience getting a lower blepharoplasty—or eyelid surgery—due to a longstanding insecurity.
"I got a lower bleph because me and my family have, I call it the 'Biles eye bags,'" she told People in an interview published Nov. 13. "We've just always had them, hereditary, and so that was just a big flaw."
She continued, "Every time I would go to a shoot, they're like, 'Oh, can we put some strips on her?'"
Eventually, Simone decided to move forward with the surgery, which Cleveland Clinic describes as a procedure that “removes and repositions excess fat” below the eyes.
"I was like, 'Oh, baby, I had 12 hours last night, these aren't going away,'" she continued. "So it's something that I wanted to fix."
In addition to racking up gold medals, being transparent about her insecurities will always be important to her.
"Seeing me win medals at the Olympics, that's not relatable," she explained. "But what is relatable is how we feel about ourselves, what we talk about, what we go through and how we share openly, honestly."
The gymnast also recently shared two more alterations that she’s had done in the comments of her Oct. 29 TikTok video, confirming that, in addition to her lower bleph, she’s had a breast augmentation and got her ear lobe reshaped after her earring was ripped out in childhood.
And if she can spread one message about beauty, it is that social media isn’t always as it seems.
"I feel like nowadays with social media, you see everyone and you're like, 'Oh my God, how does she look so good?'" she explained. "Social media is not real, so that's why I try to be as transparent as possible."
