Sure, Miley Cyrus can buy her own flowers, write her name in the sand.
But it's hard to argue that anyone can love the three-time Grammy winner better than her newly minted fiancé Maxx Morando can.
Chatting with E! News' Will Marfuggi at the Dec. 1 Avatar: Fire and Ash premiere in L.A., Cyrus teased her plans to celebrate the upcoming holidays with dad Billy Ray Cyrus, mom Tish Cyrus and the various members of their expansive fam.
"It'll be a total mess," joked Cyrus, who penned the song "Dream As One" for the third installment of James Cameron's science fiction epic, "chaotic and dysfunctional, the way that we like it. That's family."
Of course Morando likely would have claimed a spot at the dinner table beside his partner of four years regardless. But now the drummer for alt rock band Liily has officially cemented his plus-one status.
After Cyrus accessorized her strapless black gown with a sizable cushion-cut diamond on the fourth finger of her left hand, multiple outlets confirmed the couple are engaged.
"Baby, when we dream we dream as one," the 33-year-old captioned a carousel of pics with Morando from the red carpet.
And while her Instagram missive may have been quoting her Avatar love song—"The film is so large scale, so epic, so intense that, for me, I really wanted to ground it," she explained to E!—it's clear she and Morando have been making plans in tandem for quite some time.
Having watched her union with Liam Hemsworth metaphorically burn after their Malibu home went up in flames in 2018, Cyrus was good with being alone. She was gold, actually.
But when a friend floated the idea of setting her up with 27-year-old Morando on a blind date, the Hannah Montana alum reflected to British Vogue in 2023, "I thought, 'The worst that can happen is I leave.'"
Instead, she found the kinda dream that can't be sold.
Mostly because, this time around, she was looking for more than just a piercing stare and effortless curls.
In the past, she acknowledged in a joint sit down with mom Tish and sisters Brandi Cyrus and Noah Cyrus, her mother had encouraged her to stay "with the wrong guy," she explained to New York magazine's The Cut, "'cause they're hot.'"
Though, make no mistake, she insisted of Morando, "My man's hot as hell too. But my man also respects me."
With the rocker, she continued, "I ended up with a person who means a lot to me and treats me really well and respects me."
And that's just a few of the far more than seven things she likes about her future spouse.
With his birthday mere days before hers, "he’s a Scorpio and so is his grandfather," Cyrus raved during a June appearance on the Sorry We're Cyrus podcast, "that’s what makes Maxx just so cool because he can sting."
The "Can't Be Tamed" musician admittedly can get a bit crazy, so she "couldn't be with" someone that doesn't have that edge, she noted. "They would have been toast already."
But not long after she and Morando turned up at Gucci's Love Parade fashion show together in November 2021, it became clear they had the right recipe.
"We just don't take life too seriously," she told Harper's Bazaar in 2024, describing her frequent collaborator as "very similar" to herself. Decades into her career, she continued, she had a pattern of working "with the people that I love. And Maxx just inspires me so much."
As the pair embark on something beautiful, take a look back at their journey so far.
