Julia Roberts is in awe of her kids growing older.
After celebrating her and husband Danny Moder’s twins Hazel and Phinnaeus’ 21st birthday, the My Best Friend’s Wedding star admitted it’s hard to believe how quickly time has flown by.
“It’s amazing, it’s astonishing,” she told Entertainment Tonight in a Dec. 1 interview alongside Luca Guadagnino. “Watching any child, but particularly your own children, grow up—Luca knows, he spends time with my kids—listening to their point of view of the world and things.”
Days earlier, the Oscar winner—who is also mom to son Henry, 18, with Danny—shared a sweet photo of her twins as babies on their big day, along with a heartfelt reflection on their growth.
“These game changers, life alterers, [heart] expanders once were 1 and now are 21!” she wrote in a Nov. 28 Instagram post. “That was fast. Happy Birthday my Dears.”
Over the years, the 58-year-old has made a point to raise her kids out of the spotlight, only offering occasional glimpses of their lives. In fact, she previously explained how sharing throwback pictures on social media accomplishes that goal.
“I know Instagram is a place where people like to share happy things,” she told Extra in December 2023. “It allows me to share something as a proud parent of them without infringing on their privacy at all.”
These days, Julia and Danny—who wed in 2002—are embracing their kids’ first foray into adulthood, particularly now that all three have left home. And even though being empty-nesters has shifted the couple’s parenting dynamic, the actress cherishes all the time she can get with her family.
“I know everyone thinks their kids are great, well... I think my kids are great,” she said during an appearance on The Late Show With Stephen Colbert in October. “I love hanging out with them and spending time with them.”
