Award season is coming up golden.
The nominations for the Golden Globes were announced on Dec. 8 by actors Marlon Wayans and Skye P. Marshall, bringing with them a new slate of award hopefuls from both film and television.
Ahead of the announcement, there were a few projects expected to be among the shoe-ins for nods, such as films Wicked: For Good, Marty Supreme, Hamnet, Sinners and One Battle After Another, plus series The Studio, The Pitt, Severance and Adolescence—with recent release Pluribus also sparking conversation.
As for actors, the 2026 award season promises to be a competitive field.
Among those expected to earn nominations for best and supporting actor categories throughout the season are Michael B. Jordan for Sinners, Leonardo DiCaprio for One Battle After Another, Timothée Chalamet for Marty Supreme, Paul Mescal for Hamnet as well as Jacob Elordi for Frankenstein, among many others.
For best and supporting actress, favorites include Cynthia Erivo and Ariana Grande for Wicked: For Good, Jessie Buckley for Hamnet, Teyana Taylor for One Battle After Another plus Jennifer Lawrence for Die My Love. Indeed, all of the aformentioned actors earned nods in their respective categories at the Golden Globes.
Every year the Golden Globes, coming as the season’s first major ceremony, is often an indication of the strongest contenders for awards.
And indeed, the big winners at last year’s ceremony—including The Brutalist, actors Demi Moore, Adrien Brody, Anna Sawai and Hiroyuki Sanda, plus series Hacks, Shogun and Baby Reindeer—proved to be among the most highly decorated projects and actors to emerge at the end of the season.
The 2026 ceremony, taking place on Jan. 11, will be hosted by comedian Nikki Glaser, who also helmed last year’s show.
For her part, Nikki is thrilled to be back—and is keeping her fingers crossed that the show leads her to more opportunities.
“Hosting the Golden Globes this year was without a doubt the most fun I have ever had in my career,” she said in a statement. “I can’t wait to do it again, and this time in front of the team from The White Lotus, who will finally recognize my talent and cast me in Season Four as a Scandinavian Pilates instructor with a shadowy past.”
But without further ado, to see the full 2026 list of nominees, read on:

Keep reading for a look at this year's snubs and surprises...
Snub: The Last of Us
Despite The Last of Us’ promising slow burn of a second season, the HBO drama received an apocalyptic exile from the Golden Globes this year.
Surprise: Demon Slayer: Kimetsu No Yaiba Infinity Castle
This flashy nod would certainly make Tengen Uzui smile. Demon Slayer: Kimetsu No Yaiba Infinity Castle was nominated in the Best Animated Motion Picture category, which marks the first time a Shonen Jump creation has been recognized by the ceremony.
Snub: Wunmi Mosaku
Though Sinners nabbed seven Golden Globes nominations, including one for star Michael B. Jordan, his costar Wunmi Mosaku did not receive any nods for her role as Annie.
Surprise: K-Pop Demon Hunters
The Netflix hit earned not just one, or two but three nominations for the animated film.
Snub: Katherine LaNasa
Surprise: Robin Wright
Even the Golden Globes voters couldn’t peel their eyes away from the tense beef in The Girlfriend. Not only did the Prime Video series collect a nod for Best Limited or Anthology Series, but its lead star Robin Wright—who last won a Globe in 2016—also received a nomination for Best Female Actor.
Snub: Wicked: For Good
Though the popular film earned a total of five nominations overall, including ones for Cynthia Erivo and Ariana Grande, it was not included in the category for Best Motion Picture—Musical or Comedy.
Surprise: Jacob Elordi
Jacob Elordi not only landed a nomination for Best Performance by a Male Actor in a Supporting Role in Any Motion Picture for Frankenstein, but he's also a double nominee, earning a nod for his role in the series The Narrow Road to the Deep North.
Snub: Jon M. Chu
The Wicked director was once again shut out of the Best Director category, despite the film itself earning five nods this year.
Surprise: One Battle After Another
The action thriller film came out on top, earning nine nominations including one for Best Motion Picture—Musical or Comedy.
Snub: Hailee Steinfeld
In addition to costar Wunmi, Hailee Steinfeld was also not recognized for her role as Mary in Ryan Coogler's Sinners.
Snub: Regina Hall
Despite appearing in One Battle After Another for a short period of time, Regina Hall's role undoubtedly made all the difference in the action-comedy.
