Whoopi Goldberg is reprising an important role.

The Sister Act actress shared that her grandson Mason Dean welcomed a baby girl, making Whoopi a great-grandmother for the second time.

“I’m going to start out today because I have some fun news from over the weekend,” Whoopi told the audience during the Dec. 8 episode of The View. “My family welcomed Lotus Dean to the world. She’s 6 pounds, 3 ounces.”

The 70-year-old unveiled a few snaps of the newborn alongside the family dog Ruby and cuddling with Mason, the youngest son of Whoopi’s daughter Alex Martin, 51, who Whoopi welcomed with first husband Alvin Martin when she was 18.

Cohost Sunny Hostin was delighted by the photo, adding that Mason “looks in love,” to which Whoopi quipped, “Yeah, that’ll change.”

“It’s a wonderful thing,” Whoopi added. “It’s a wonderful thing. This is my second."

Ana Navarro also gave a congratulations to Alex for becoming a grandmother again, which prompted Whoopi to joke, “I don’t think about that, I simply think about myself. ‘Cause I never thought I’d have two great-grandkids. To be there for that.”

As for what her great-grandkids call her?

“They call me Whoopi ‘cause I’m not the grandma,” the Oscar winner explained. “I’m the great-grandma. So just Whoopi.”

Although it turns out that when her first great-grandchild Charli Rose was born in 2014, the tiny tot—who is the daughter of Whoopi’s eldest granddaughter Amara Skye, 36—did have some trouble with her great-grandmother’s chosen moniker

“She couldn’t say her Ws,” Whoopi said, “so I was 'Oopi' for the longest time. So we’ll see.”

“But I think this one, she’s ready to get stuff done,” she said of Lotus. “She’s very alert.”

When she became a great-grandmother the first time around, the Ghost actress could hardly believe it was happening.

“I was a grandmother kind of young,” she shared on The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon in 2014. “Now I'm a great grandmother, and I was—I had just gotten into the groove of being a grandmother. It was all great. And then this girl came and said she and her man were having a baby, and I wanted to ring her neck.”

And while she eventually took it in stride, Whoopi’s daughter Alex—who is also mom to Jerzey Dean, 29, with husband Bernard Dean—had a tougher time swallowing the grandmother pill.

“My daughter's like, ‘I’m gonna be a grandmother. Oh my god, I just saw my life was beginning. I've raised the children and now.’ So I let her go through all of that,” Whoopi continued, “and I whispered in her ear, ‘I got no sympathy for you. You made me a grandmother when I was 33, b---h.’”

“I wasn't your normal grandmother,” Whoopi joked, “and I'm not going to be your normal great grandmother.”
