Watch: Kelly Ripa, Mark Consuelos Reveal Their Kids' Reaction to Being "Cut" From Holiday Tradition

Kelly Ripa and Mark Consuelos' kids have been cut off.

From taking part in the family Christmas card, that is. And ultimately, the Live With Kelly and Mark cohosts' decision to omit Michael, 28, Lola, 24, and Joaquin, 22, from the annual mailing stems from a simple issue.

"We're tired of getting all the photos approved by our kids every year," Mark explained in a joint interview published by People on Dec. 7, to which Kelly quipped, "We've cut them out."

And the couple's kids were not happy with the decision.

"They complained that they're not in the Christmas card this year," Kelly shared. "They feel very slighted, and 'How could you?' and I said, 'I am tired of waiting around for you to approve a picture."

But the 55-year-old insisted this year’s holiday card is still a "great one"—and definitely spreads holiday cheer.

"We took a picture on the set with the Dallas Cowboys cheerleaders," she said, "and Mark is in the middle and we're all in our special outfits and Mark just has a look on his face, he's so excited and happy. He's the happiest I've ever seen him be in a Christmas card."

Indeed, this is not the first time the pair have cut their children out of their holiday card.

"The other year that we did this, our kids were also being non-cooperative," Mark explained, "and we took a photo of me with my family on Riverdale."

And Kelly confirmed his story, adding,  "That was another good Christmas card."

In addition to omitting Michael, Lola and Joaquin from their Christmas card, the couple are also debating making a key change to their children's gifts.

"Kids are old now," Mark said during the Nov. 20 episode of Live With Kelly and Mark. "I’m not getting them anything."

After Kelly expressed shock, he noted "They get money."

"Give them like a check or something and say, 'Merry Christmas!’” he continued, joking, "That sounds bad. That sounds really bad."

The pair recently also shared insight into another annual Christmas tradition—one their kids still take part in.

"I usually get everybody pajamas [that are] monogrammed for the night before," Kelly explained on the Nov. 21 episode of Live With Kelly and Mark, explaining that her husband "wears them once a year for me."

She continued, "I'm like, 'Look, I don't ask for much. You've done nothing for this holiday. You've contributed nothing. You've purchased nothing. You've baked nothing. You've set nothing up. Put on the [censored] PJs."

As Kelly and Mark and their kids prepare to celebrate the holidays, look back at their cutest family moments...

Empty Nest, No Problem

For the first September in at least 20 years that she didn't have a kid to see off to school, Kelly filled the void with a throwback from 2008.

Look Out, Behind You!

Looks like Michael's about to get the drop on his little sister in this pic their dad shared on Lola's 19th birthday in 2020.

Class of 2021

Joaquin is surrounded by love at his high school graduation.

Big Men on Campus

"Looks like @instasuelos just found out he won't be @joaquinconsuelos roommate in the fall," Kelly teased during a trip to Ann Arbor before Joaquin started at University of Michigan.

Kelly took a few days off in March 2022 to watch the Wolverines compete in the Division 1 Wrestling Championships in Detroit.

Still a freshman, Joaquin didn't wrestle this time, but still, Kelly said on Live upon her return, "It took years off my life watching these young men."

Generational Health

The whole family finally made it to Greece and Italy in June 2021 after the pandemic had other plans in 2020.

"Last year's graduation trip for our oldest son and niece was delayed long enough to become a graduation trip for the family newborns as well," Kelly shared.

This family pic from their Mediterranean getaway turned out so well, Kelly made it their 2021 holiday card.

History Repeating

In August 2020, Kelly Ripa shared an epic recreation of an old family photo from 2003 on Instagram. With youngest son Joaquin on her lap and older kids Michael and Lola perfectly in place, we'd say they nailed it despite the fact that, as Kelly noted, "objects may appear larger."

In May 2020, Kelly and Mark celebrated eldest son Michael's graduation—albeit a virtual one, thanks to the coronavirus pandemic—from New York University.
