Selena Gomez is killing 'em with kindness.
The "Sunset Blvd" singer couldn't help but to laugh when someone asked her, "How do you shave your mustache?"
In fact, "I was like, 'I totally get it,'" Selena said while giggling in a video shared on her Instagram Story Dec. 16. "It's actually not! It's my melasma. I take care of it and I treat it, but yeah no, it's there."
Melasma is a common skin condition that causes dark, discolored patches due to overproduction of melanin, according to the Cleveland Clinic. The discoloration is often triggered by sun exposure, which the 33-year-old said was her case.
"I actually have melasma and a pimple," she noted in her video, zooming the camera close to her upper lip. "It's actually from the sun, so you'll have to obviously wear sunscreen and be careful."
And it's admittedly taken Selena a long time to be able to brush off her skin problems with a laugh. As she explained to Vogue in 2024, "I have grown so much over the years, and at this point in my life, I am really comfortable in my own skin."
She added, "Being true to myself means being unafraid of being me."
That's why she's not afraid to go bare face these days.
"I used to think I had to wear makeup in order to feel pretty, but now I understand that I don’t need makeup to feel beautiful," she explained in a 2020 essay for CNN. "Now, I view makeup as an accessory and something to be excited about."
"There’s so much pressure to look a certain way and makeup is often used to hide or cover up perceived imperfections," she continued, adding that she started her Rare Beauty line in 2019 "to challenge the beauty 'norm' by changing the conversation and celebrating what makes each of us unique."
