Layla Taylor isn't keeping her new look a secret.
After all, the Secret Lives of Mormon Wives star revealed that she swapped out her long black locks for voluminous blonde braids.
Layla shared a video on TikTok Dec. 18, featuring a clip of herself posing in New York City, with her black hair extensions cascading down her shoulders. In the second, she debuted her braids, which she wore in a half-up-half-down style.
The reality star—mom to sons Oliver, 4, and Maxwell, 3, with ex-husband Clayton Wessel—simply captioned the post, "Growth."
Fans couldn't help but praise the new look in her comment section, with one writing, "Proud black girl moment," which Layla liked. Meanwhile, her costar Jen Affleck was also cheering her on, commenting, "YESSS LAYLA."
The 24-year-old—who had been getting extensions done by her costar and hairstylist Jessi Ngatikaura—eventually decided to find a stylist better equipped to work with Black hair in season three. Although it was a difficult choice, she was grateful that Jessi was supportive.
"She understood there wasn't any ill intent behind it and that it was a decision about the betterment of my hair," she told The Hollywood Reporter last month, "but also a journey of self-discovery."
Layla, who is biracial, was incredibly proud of herself for making the move.
"At first, I didn't realize the gravity of sharing that and how impactful it would be," she explained. "I grew up in a predominantly white area. For most of my life up until now, I always clung to my more white side because it felt safe—that's what made me feel comfortable and what I thought beauty was when I was a little girl."
"When that's all you see around you, you think straight hair and fairer skin is pretty," she emphasized. "I had some pretty traumatic experiences when I was little. I attempted to bleach my skin once and you would never see my hair curly."
She noted there "was a lot of shame around half of myself."
Now, the influencer has some sweet advice for anyone struggling with their identity.
"What makes you different does not make you less than," she wrote on Instagram in November. "Embrace what makes you stand out. Love yourself for all that you are and don't be afraid to be who you are."
"To any little boy or girl out there who doesn't look like their friends and is feeling a bit lonely, you're amazing and you can do whatever you set your mind to," she continued. "Our differences give us strength."
