The curtain is slowly rising on the Actor Awards.
After all, nominations for the award show—formerly known as the Screen Actors Guild Awards—were announced Jan. 7 with the help of Abbott Elementary's Janelle James and Heated Rivalry breakout Connor Storrie.
Indeed, with the nominations for the March 1 show honoring acting performances coming on the heels of the 2026 Critics Choice Awards, it's no surprise that Sinners and One Battle After Another led the pack for films, with each earning five nominations and seven nominations, respectively. The latter also made history, becoming the most-nominated movie ever at the ceremony.
Meanwhile, The Studio made its mark on the small screen with seven nods. And Adolescence earned five. But some unexpected projects are making their way to the Actors Awards. (See all the nominations here.)
Song Sung Blue may have earned mixed reviews from critics, but Kate Hudson's performance as Claire Sardina hit all the right notes with SAG-AFTRA voters. After all, she earned a Female Actor in a Leading Role nomination, her first nod at the award show since 2010.
Chase Infiniti's movie in One Battle After Another as Leonardo DiCaprio's onscreen daughter had proven to be a golden choice. After earning her first nod at the CCAs, she's back again for Female Actor in a Leading Role.
Although Sentimental Value earned seven nominations at the CCAs, including Renate Reinsve in the Best Actress category, Stellan Skarsgard for Best Supporting Actor, as well as Inga Ibsdotter Lilleaas and Elle Fanning in Best Supporting Actress, the film didn't earn any nods at the Actor Awards.
While Cynthia Erivo was nominated in the Female Actress in a Motion Picture for Wicked at last year's show, she didn't earn any nods for Wicked: For Good. However, Ariana Grande earned a nod in the Supporting Actress category.
Now, as stars prepare to hit the red carpet at the Shrine Auditorium & Expo Hall March 1, keep reading for more snubs and surprises ahead of the 2026 Actors Awards presented by SAG-AFTRA.
SURPRISE: Kate Hudson, Song Sung Blue
Song Sung Blue may have had a shaky critical response, but it's clear that Kate Hudson's performance as Claire Sardina opposite Hugh Jackman hit all the right notes with SAG-AFTRA voters. After all, it's her first nod at the award show in over 15 years.
SNUB: Gwyneth Paltrow, Marty Supreme
With Gwyneth Paltrow returning to acting after seven years for Marty Supreme, her role as Kay Stone was expected to score some nominations during award season. And yet, with the second event of the season, the 53-year-old hasn't gotten her flowers yet.
SURPRISE: Chase Infiniti, One Battle After Another
Making her film debut in One Battle After Another, Chase Infiniti proved she is up for the award show battle. With only one other acting credit under her belt in the series Presumed Innocent, the 25-year-old earned her second Best Actress nomination for the Leonardo DiCaprio-led film.
SNUB: Cynthia Erivo, Wicked: For Good
While Cynthia Erivo was wickedly good at Elphaba Thropp in Wicked—even earning a nod in the Female Actor in a Leading Role at the 2024 awards for the film—she didn't get nominated for the sequel. However, costar Ariana Grande is competing for Female Actor in a Leading Role.
SURPRISE: Miles Caton, Sinners
The 20-year-old—who won the Best Young Actor/Actress award at the 2026 Critics Choice Awards—earned his second nod at the Actor Awards in the Male Actor in a Supporting Role category for his film debut in Sinners.
SNUB: Sentimental Value
The critically acclaimed film may have earned seven nominations at the Critics Choice Awards—including Renate Reinsve in the Best Actress category, Stellan Skarsgard for Best Supporting Actor, as well as Inga Ibsdotter Lilleaas and Elle Fanning in Best Supporting Actress—but was shut out of the Actor Awards.
SURPRISE: Odessa A'Zion, Marty Supreme
Odessa A'Zion's role as Rachel Mizler opposite Timothée Chalamet earned the actress an individual nomination for the Josh Safdie film. While the 25-year-old has an established filmography, it was Marty Supreme that gave her a name at award shows.
SNUB: Jeremy Allen White, Springsteen: Deliver Me from Nowhere and The Bear
While the actor had won Outstanding Male Actor in a Comedy Series for The Bear in 2022 and 2024, and was nominated in 2025, he didn't earn a nod this year. And although the Bruce Springsteen biopic was expected to be a huge hit ahead of its release, the film didn't seem to find its footing with critics or viewers.
SNUB: Jennifer Lawrence, Die My Love
Although Die My Love earned a six-minute ovation during its premiere at the Cannes Film Festival in May, Jennifer Lawrence didn't end up with any nominations at the Actor Awards.
SURPRISE: Kristen Wiig, Palm Royale
While Palm Royale season one was nominated for 11 categories at the 2024 Emmy Awards, the Apple TV+ series was shut out of all other award shows. Now, Kristen Wiig has finally found herself competing for gold in the Female Actor in a Comedy Series category.
