Yes, the extremely attractive former soccer stud stripped down to his underwear in his latest Instagram post to do pushups atop his piano...but the purpose wasn't solely to get us all hot and bothered (though we're sure that had a little something to do with it).
Rather, Beckham has joined Guy Ritchie in the latest social media competition, the #22PUshupChallenge, in which people are asked to do 22 pushups consecutively over 22 days in order to represent the 22 veterans that commit suicide daily. Similar to the ALS Ice Bucket Challenge from a few years back, participants challenge others to complete the workout and post a video to social media.
Beckham kicked off the challenge on Wednesday, explaining to his followers, "So my lovely friend Mr Guy Richie [sic] the film maker and supreme athlete has nominated me to do 22 press ups consecutively for 22 days (and by the way his challenge was that I do my first lot at 44,000 feet as he knows I'm travelling)."
He continued, "This isn't one of his daily routines where he likes to teach u a lesson and beat you, it's for a very good reason...22 service men kill themselves post conflict...22 a day, basically 1 an hour. So I am doing what Guy R, Jason S and Charlie H are doing and supporting, respecting and appreciating all the service men and women and their sacrifice...we shine a light to support and help save lives."
The challenge appears to be in support of an organization called 22Kill, which has set a goal to reach 22 million pushups "to honor those who serve and to raise awareness for veteran suicide prevention through education and empowerment," according to their website.
Beckham nominated Justin Theroux and Brooklyn Beckham to take on the challenege with him. Meanwhile, celebs like Chris Pratt and Anna Faris, The Rock and Candace Cameron Bure have already taken to Instagram lately to post their own videos in support of the movement.
