The fashion designer, wife of David Beckham, mother of four and Spice Girls singer was made a U.N. Goodwill Ambassador in Septmber 2014 and will work with the group's Joint Programme on HIV/AIDS. She said at a press conference at the United Nations that month that she hopes to empower women and help raise awareness about the fight against HIV/AIDS. She said she was inspired to take action following a "life-changing" trip to South Africa. She made her remarks the same day as the launch of her new London store, for which she was not present.
