Treat a Pimple With Toothpaste

The DIY beauty hack that second-generation model Gigi Hadid picked up from her mom? Apply toothpaste to a pimple. "I just put it on [a pimple] at night before I go to sleep," she told Style.com. "Then I take [a small piece of] toilet paper, get it wet, put it on my finger and press it over the top and peel [the excess paper off] around my finger. It dries kind of like a papier-mâché and it holds in the moisture and the toothpaste. In the morning, you just put a wet towel on it, and it all comes off."

Dr. Jeannette Graf, a New York-based dermatologist and author of Stop Aging, Start Living, notes that toothpaste can theoretically act as a drying spot treatment, but be warned: It can also irritate the skin.

Wash Hair With Cola

"I don't like my hair when it's washed—it's fine and limp—but Coca-Cola makes it tousled, like I've gone through the Amazon or something," Suki Waterhouse recently revealed to Us Weekly.

Should we suds up with soda? Celebrity hairstylist and E! Style Collective member Marc Mena thinks not. "Coca-Cola is heavy in sugars," he said. "It can start to coat hair and adds build-up."

Shave Eyebrows Away

In order to get perfect brows, screen siren Sophia Loren would shave her eyebrows completely off, then draw them back in with a fine-tipped pencil to replicate every single hair.

While her brows did look flawless, we don't really have to tell you not to try this at home, right? (The re-growth process can be spotty at best.)

Hemorrhoid Cream to De-Puff Eyes

Sandra Bullock is said to have employed Preparation H to reduce puffiness around the eyes (a trick long used by beauty queens).

The hemorrhoid cream has been used for many years as a temporary tightener for skin around the eyes; however, some skin experts question whether the tried-and-true remedy still works, as its formula has changed in recent years.

Petroleum Jelly for Glow

How did the world's most famous blonde illuminate her complexion under studio lights? By applying layers of Vaseline, hormone cream and Erno Laszlo Active pHelityl Cream or Nivea to her skin.

The trick may have worked in the '50s, but as Graf pointed out, "while Vaseline is a moisturizer, hormones are not for everyone. There are better makeups available to create glow."

Applying Lemon Juice to Skin

To brighten her complexion, Katharine Hepburn would exfoliate with a homemade mixture of sugar, warm water and lemon juice.

Graf warns against applying lemon juice directly to the face. "It has a very low pH and can irritate skin when applied directly," she warned. Instead, Graf suggested drinking water spiked with lemon juice, which has an alkalinizing effect.

Aspirin for Healthier Hair

After hearing a widespread rumor that Jennifer Aniston's optimum hair health came by mixing smashed asprin tablets into shampoo and onto the scalp, many followed. The actress has since denied that she had ever done such a thing.

Still, Mena noted that such practices won't help hair and may interfere with the way our bodies process the medication.

Ice to Minimize Pores

Legendary actress Joan Crawford was known for her extreme beauty hacks, like rubbing ice cubes on her skin to minimize the appearance of pores.

Graf noted that such attempts are futile, but icing a pimple can constrict the cyst's blood vessels and decrease its size.
