Oscars flashback!
Waterworld, Norbit... Remember these Academy Award nominees? Let's take a look back at some of the Oscar-nominated films you totally forgot about.
Jackass Presents: Bad Grandpa (2013)
Jackass Presents: Bad Grandpa, starring Johnny Knoxville, nabbed an Oscar nom for Best Makeup and Hairstyling, making it the first Jackass film to be nominated for an Academy Award. We are saying "first" because, who knows now? The barriers have been broken down. Where you at, Steve-O?
Waterworld (1995)
The Kevin Costner flick Waterworld may have gotten some recognition at the Razzies, but that's not all! The movie won the Oscar for Best Sound, too.
Norbit (2008)
Norbit is not an Oscar winner. (Bummer! We know.) However, the Eddie Murphy comedy did nab a nom for Best Achievement in Makeup.
The Star Wars Prequels
Star Wars Episode I: The Phantom Menace was nominated for three Academy Awards, for Best Sound Editing, Best Visual Effects, and Best Sound Mixing. Star Wars Episode II: Attack of the Clones nabbed a nom for Best Visual Effects. Star Wars: Episode III - Revenge of the Sith scored a nom for Best Achievement in Makeup.
Batman Forever (1995)
The Val Kilmer Batman movie was honored with a trio of Oscar nominations, for: Best Cinematography, Best Sound, and Best Sound Effects Editing.
Hustle & Flow (2005)
Three 6 Mafia's jam "It's Hard out Here for a Pimp" won an Oscar for Best Original Song, which was featured in Hustle & Flow. So it's not that hard for a pimp, huh? Or at least for a pimp-related song to nab an Academy Award.
Austin Powers: The Spy Who Shagged Me (1999)
This Austin Powers sequel got some love from the Academy with a nom for Best Achievement in Makeup. That Fat Bastard character did look like it took some work.
Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen (2009)
The Oscar-nominated film Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen (yup) was one of the contenders for an award in Best Sound Mixing.
The Wolfman (2010)
The scary cool makeup in the Anthony Hopkins and Benicio De Toro version of The Wolfman received an Oscar nomination.
Beethoven's 2nd (1993)
Another film that was an Oscar nominee thanks to a memorable song, this Beethoven sequel scored a nom for the tune "The Day I Fall in Love."
Beverly Hills Cop (1984)
Murphy's gotten quite a bit of recognition from the Academy. In case you forgot, his film Beverly Hills Cop was an Academy Award nominee for Best Screenplay.
Under Siege (1992)
Remember this Academy Award-nominated Steven Seagal movie? Under Siege received noms in two categories: Best Sound and Best Sound Effects Editing.
Click (2007)
