Crossing the Line

Hasn't everybody heard the term, "I'm dating my best friend" at least once? TV characters are no exception, especially on long-running shows. The lines of love are often crossed for new and exciting couplings, something that recently happened on The Walking Dead. But Rick and Michonne aren't alone, check out these other couples who've gone from friends to lovers.

Rick and Michonne, The Walking Dead

When you're surviving the zombie apocalypse together, well, you need to know who your friends are. Rick and Michonne's coupling makes sense, even if it's a deviation from the comics
Fling or Endgame: TBD, but it sounds like it's not going anywhere. However, you're not going to see them frolicking on date night.

Danny and Mindy, The Mindy Project

They shouldn't work. She's a hopeless romantic. He's a jaded divorcee. And yet! Seriously, The Mindy Project has become the most realistic rom-com in years, showing what happens when two people who shouldn't work together actually get together and have to go beyond the happily ever after. Spoiler alert: it's not all kisses in the rain and sexy dances from Diamond Dan.
Fling or Endgame: Though they have a baby together, this is still TBD! (But we have faith.)

Jim and Pam, The Office

Has any TV couple's journey been more satisfying than Jim and Pam's? He loved her since the first moment he saw her answer a phone, and she was blissfully unaware. And  they  were one of the rare will-they-or-won't-they pairs to actually get BETTER when they finally did get together. (We cry just thinking of Jim's proposal in the rain.)
Fling or Endgame: Come on, ENDGAME.

Stefan and Caroline, The Vampire Diaries

Who knew Elena's first love and her best friend would be the Pacey and Joey of the show?! Well, we sort of did, way back in season two when Stefan coached Caroline through her vampire transition. Since then, their relationship has slowly and surely built towards a deep friendship and love. (We love when we're right.)
Fling or Endgame: TBD! (But those flash-forwards are not too promising.)

Dan and Blair, Gossip Girl

From season one, the witty duo shared a connection that (verrry) slowly and realistically evolved over the seasons, leading to a real friendship and eventual romance late in the series. Chuck and Blair fans were, to put it mildly, about to light the Internet on fire over the relationship.
Fling or Endgame: Sadly, Dair didn't stand a chance in the face of Chair. Chuck and Blair ended up married, as did Dan and Serena…after he was revealed to be Gossip Girl. We know. WE KNOW.

Robin and Barney, How I Met Your Mother

It was the rom-com inside another rom-com that no one saw coming…and became one of the series' strongest storylines as womanizer Barney fell for his wingwoman Robin, who just happened to be the object of his best friend's affection. Fans loved the crap out of these two together, even when they couldn't stand each other.
Fling or Endgame: Well, the two did get married…and divorced, all within the series finale, with Robin ultimately ending up with Ted. Yeah, a lot of people were pissed.

George and Izzie, Grey's Anatomy

We're sorry for reminding you of the romantic turn this friendship took in season four. Why, Shonda Rhimes, why?!
Fling or Endgame: Fortunately, this relationship ended when they realized  they were more like brother and sister.

Adam and Jessa, Girls

We all saw it coming in season four, with the chemistry between Hannah's ex-BF and BFF slowly building, and reaching its boiling point at Marnie's wedding. This can't end well, but that doesn't mean it won't be a joy to watch these two weirdos attempt to work it out.
Fling or Endgame: TBD!

Spencer and Caleb, Pretty Little Liars

Arguably the best part of PLL's five-year time-jump? The totally shocking yet completely believable romance between Spencer and Caleb, arguably the most realistic and adult relationship the show has ever done. (Sorry we're not sorry, Hanna and Toby.)
Fling or Endgame: TBD!

Monica and Chandler, Friends

The one nobody saw coming! But it worked out in the end.
Fling or Endgame: Mon and Chan were built to last.

Rachel and Joey, Friends

One of the more divisive Friends pairings, Joey and Rachel never moved passed the "let's talk about feelings" and kissing stage, probably for the good of all.
Fling or Endgame: A drawn out fling.

Mulder and Scully, The X-Files

From colleagues to friends to lovers, Mulder and Scully sure experienced a lot together. The chemistry was always there, it just took a while for things to become firmed up—they even had a kid together—without all those labels.
Fling or Endgame: Well, that's murky. The revival saw them split up, but there are obviously still feelings there.

Veronica and Logan, Veronica Mars

LoVe had a long history, going from friends to enemies to lovers all in the span of a few years. They split at the end of the series, but reunited in the movie and book series.
Fling or Endgame: It was a pairing that was never supposed to happen, but the fans have spoken and this is the endgame.

Luke and Loreali, Gilmore Girls

Another one with the long bumpy road full of chemistry, Luke and Loreali made sense at the end of the day.  After all, he provided her coffee.
Fling or Endgame: TBD. They were together at the end of season seven, but with a revival coming up, anything can happen.
