Cristin Milioti, The Penguin
What was the first thing on Cristin's mind when she scored her first ever Emmy nomination? “It was definitely that I can’t wait to have a big dessert as a treat later," she admitted to Deadline shortly after nominations were announced July 15. "I am so thrilled at the amount of nominations that The Penguin got."
And since the show scored three other nominations in addition to Cristin's, she took time to express gratitude for everyone who worked on the series.
"I’m thrilled for our directors, my fellow actors, our writers, our hair and makeup team, the visual effects team and the editors," she added. "This show took so many people to make this show what it is. You never know who’s going to get recognized, so I’m just so deeply thrilled about the amount of recognition we got.”
Dave Franco, The Studio
“Thank you so much to the Television Academy, Point Grey, and everyone at Apple," Dave, who was nominated for Outstanding Guest Actor in a Comedy Series, wrote in a statement to E! News. "It feels strangely fitting that my first nomination is for playing myself while inebriated on alcohol, weed, cocaine, and mushrooms.”
Kristen Bell, Nobody Wants This
The Nobody Wants This actress shared her live reaction after earning a nod for Outstanding Lead Actress in a Comedy Series, along with the series itself, produced by Erin Foster, for Outstanding Comedy Series.
"Finding out I was nominated for an Emmy," Kristen wrote alongside the photos in a July 15 post. "Finding out @erinfoster was nominated for an Emmy!!!!"
Colman Domingo, Four Seasons
Colman was sure to give everyone flowers for his Outstanding Supporting Actor in a Comedy Series nod.
"For Tina Fey, Lange Fisher, Tracey Wigfield and my extraordinary cast of brilliant masterful comedians @stevecarellofficial @kerrikenneysilver @mcalvani @erikahenningsen and Will Forte, that I get the privilege to play with," he wrote in a July 15 Instagram post. "No one gets to be funny without the other. Such a generous and giving company. Can’t wait to play with them all again very soon."
Scott Glen, The White Lotus
“I am deeply honored for this wonderful recognition," Scott wrote in a statement to E! News. "I am eternally grateful for the entire The White Lotus cast, crew, and HBO team. And for Mike White, who not only accepted my wild and unpredictable way of acting but encouraged it.”
Erin Doherty, Adolescence
“It is an absolute honour to receive this nomination amongst such a richly talented year of nominees," Erin, who is up for Best Supporting Actress in a Limited Series or Anthology, said in a statement. "To my fellow nominees, I have to say how much I respect and admire your work. I also have to shout out and congratulate Ashley Walters, Christine Tremarco, Owen Cooper, Stephen Graham. I am so proud to be on this trip with you!"
Of course, The Crown alum also went on to share the love to those behind the scenes.
"Thank you, Phil Barantini, for your phenomenal direction and Stephen Graham and Jack Thorne for your flawless words," she continued. "To the legendary producers Jo Johnson, Hannah Walters, Mark Herbert, Warp Films and Plan B—I will be forever grateful to you for letting me be a part of this piece of work. Martin Scorsese, The Studio
Once just a famed director, now an Emmy nominee! The Killers of the Flower Moon star clearly couldn't believe the honor in a FaceTime screenshot his daughter Francesca Scorsese shared to Instagram July 15.
In another post she celebrated her father, adding, "Our little actor."
Ruth Negga, Presumed Innocent
“I feel thrilled," Ruth, who was nominated for Outstanding Supporting Actress in a Limited Series or Anthology, wrote in a statement to E! News. "It truly takes a village and I have such thanks to the incredible hard work cast and crew on Presumed Innocent. I feel gratitude to be nominated for an Emmy, and in this category with such incredibly talented artists.”
Bowen Yang, Saturday Night Live
Although the Saturday Night Live star recieved another nomination for Outstanding Supporting Actor, he first took to social media to congratulate fellow nominee Jeff Hiller. As he wrote in a July 15 Instagram Story, "EMMY NOMINEE JEFF HILLER THANK GOD."
Of course, he later added some gratitude for his own nomination, attaching a photo of the Saturday Night Live cast and crew.
"Thank you to the continent of Asia," he joked. "You're welcome Asians."
Liza Colón-Zayas, The Bear
The Bear actress quickly took to Instagram to react to her second nomination for her role as Tina.
"I am beside myself. Thank you to everyone who supported me, again" she said in a July 15 Instagram video. "And to the Academy."
And since she was coincidentally celebrating her birthday the same day, she cheekily added in the caption, "This is the best birthday ever!"
Kathryn Hahn, The Studio
“I am beyond tickled to be nominated for this role in The Studio, with these humans," Kathryn, who is up for Outstanding Supporting Actress in a Comedy Series, wrote in a statement to E! News. "Seth and Evan, thank you for seeing me for the soulless art-killer that I’ve always been. And thank you to the hair and makeup and wardrobe and nails of Maya Mason for doing half the work for me."
She continued, "This has been a total joy and I’m so proud to be one of the gazillion recognitions. The company I’m in, in this show and in this category, are my heroes."
And while it was snubbed from the main categories, Kathryn made a point to shoutout her other series from this past year.
"I must shout out my beautiful coven on Agatha All Along—so proud of our work," she noted. "I’m currently in Dublin raising a 2nd pint and literally looking at a rainbow. Wow thank you!!!!!!!!”
Kathy Bates, Matlock
The Matlock actress, who earned a nod for Outstanding Actress in a Drama Series, thanked CBS leadership George Cheeks and Amy Reisenbach as well as director David Del Rio for her honor.
"I am deeply grateful to the Television Academy for this honor," Kathy wrote in a statement to E! News. "My heartfelt thanks to CBS—to George, Amy, and David—for believing in us every step of the way on this beautiful journey and for being such delightful people to work with. Every day on set is a gift thanks to the dedication, talent, and friendship of our incredible cast and crew."
She also went on to thank showrunner Jennie Snyder.
"Darling Jennie—thank you for seeing those of us who feel unseen, for not abandoning me, and for trusting me with Matty's complex story," she continued. "This nomination really belongs to you…what a joy it has been for all of us to pour our hearts into bringing your Matlock to life."
Britt Lower, Severance
After earning her first ever nomination for her role as Helly in Severance, the actress reposted the news to her Instagram July 15, adding with a crying emoji, "Thank you."
Alan Cumming, The Traitors
“I’m so happy to be nominated again to prove it wasn’t a fluke last year!" Alan, who was nominated for Outstanding Host For A Reality Or Reality Competition Program, wrote in a statement to E! News. "But also because I genuinely feel the show is getting better and it’s so great to be honored in this way for something I so love doing and with a bunch of people who work so hard and really care about the quality of their work. And I get to swan around in crazy outfits in my beloved Scotland. What could be better?”
John Turturro, Severence
"I am honored to be invited to the party," John, who was nominated for Outstanding Supporting Actor in a Drama Series, wrote in a statement to E! News, "especially because my castmates Britt, Zach, Tramell, Patricia and Adam were acknowledged along with our show's fearless leaders, Ben and Dan.”
Julianne Nicholson, Paradise & Hacks
Double trouble! Julianne, who was nominated for Outstanding Supporting Actress for Paradise, as well as Outstanding Guest Actress in a Comedy Series, shared a statement to E! News to express her gratitude.
"I am truly honored to be nominated for both of these wonderful shows," she wrote. " he chance to play such polar opposite characters was a total thrill. Congratulations to all the nominees this morning and especially my castmates on Paradise and Hacks."
Michael Urie, Shrinking
“I already have the best job in the world, but to be recognized alongside titans of the industry (including and especially my fellow cast mates Harrison, Jason and Jessica) is next-level-thrilling," Michael gushed in a statement. "It’s an honor to be an actor and get paid to depict the human condition. And the fact that I get to do it with the cast, crew, writers, and directors of Shrinking—each and every one of them are geniuses—makes it even better."
Michael also took a moment to cheekily shoutout his fellow nominees, "I’m so proud to be nominated alongside Jeff, Bowen and Colman—and also Ebon, Ike and Harrison, even though they’re straight.”
Jessica Lee Gagné, Severence
"I am currently crying at the Hardware store," Jessica, who is nominated Outstanding Cinematography and Outstanding Directing, wrote in a statement to E! News. "Thank you so much to the TV Academy for these two nominations. I am so happy for my Severance family for all of the nominations they got this morning and beyond grateful to Apple, Ben, Dan, Mark, and everyone involved. Being acknowledged for my work both as a cinematographer and director is all the more meaningful."
Cooper Koch, Monsters: The Lyle and Erik Menendez Story
"It feels so amazing and validating to be recognized like this," Cooper gushed to Variety shortly after the nominations were announced. "But just doing the show and having the experience, and working with Ryan and Ari and Nicholas and Javier and Chloe and the whole cast and crew and everybody, that’s really the true gift of it all."
The Monsters star, who was nominated for Outstanding Lead Actor in a Limited Series or Anthology, also shared that Lyle Menendez himself called to congratulate him.
"I know them now," he added. "I feel like they’re my friends, like my brothers. So it does kind of feel normal. It’ll feel way better when they’re out of there."
Carrie Coon, The White Lotus
"Mike White’s singular vision will be well-represented on Emmy night and that speaks to the strength of our ensemble," she wrote in a statement. "What a thrill it is to celebrate my castmates Aimee, Parker and Natasha as well as three other artists I admire, including my friend and double-nominee Julianne Nicholson."
Carrie also emphasized that she is accepting her nomination for Outstanding Supporting Actress on behalf of herself, Leslie Bibb and Michelle Monaghan.
I think of this nomination as one for the trio, because there’s just no way that that I get to do that work without those women," she told Variety shortly after nominations were announced July 15. "The women resonated so much with the wider audience, and there were so many think pieces and essays written about them. That speaks to the quality of their work. I don’t get to do my job at that level without extraordinary actors beside me. I really was siloed primarily with those actresses — I didn’t really work with the rest of the ensemble — so they are directly responsible for this nomination."
Stephen Graham, Adolescence
“It is such a privilege to have received this nomination, and a huge congratulations to my fellow nominees," Stephen wrote in a statement. "I am, on a personal note, over the moon but more importantly, could not be prouder of, and happy for, the entire team that made Adolescence. We wanted to create a show that started an important conversation and in doing so hold up a mirror up to our society. The success of the show and its global reach has exceeded all our expectations and is an honour to be a part of."
