Give Josh Hartnett an Oscar just for showing up.
After all, more than a decade after the Pearl Harbor alum left Hollywood for the English countryside, he's continued to surprise fans this awards season with several rare red carpet appearances.
The latest? March 10 when he stepped out with wife Tamsin Egerton at Los Angeles Dolby Theatre for the 2024 Oscars, where Oppenheimer is up for 13 awards, including Best Picture plus individual nods for Cillian Murphy, Emily Blunt, Robert Downey Jr. and director Christopher Nolan. (See every star turning heads on the red carpet here.)
Still, returning to the spotlight for Nolan's drama was an easy yes for the 45-year-old, who recently confirmed he and wife Egerton privately welcomed their fourth child.
"Being in the film with these other actors and just Chris deciding to choose me to play this role was the winning goal," he told Live From E!: SAG Awards host Laverne Cox last month. "We had a fun time making the film and then for it to be so phenomenally received and to have it be nominated by our peers for acting categories across the board is great."
Plus, sweeping the Golden Globes, SAG Awards, Critics Choice Awards, BAFTA Film Awards, DGA Awards and PGA Awards isn't so bad, either.
"I think that, like, the major awards like Best Picture and Best Ensemble, things like that, they do speak to the effort that goes into making a film more so than an individual effort," he shared. "I'm just happy to be working with these guys. It's kind of a dream come true for me."
But, that doesn't mean you should expect to see Hartnett all over your screen now.
"The biggest thing for me is that I really enjoy making films, but the industry itself was overwhelming for a 21-year-old kid," he told Australian TV show The Project in 2021 about leaving the Hollywood. "There were paparazzi around every corner, you couldn't really go anywhere without being sort of harassed. And I decided I didn't need that in my life, and I was able to still make films and live outside of it."
