Why Spencer Pratt and Heidi Montag Say 6-Year-Old Son Gunner Is Ready for His YouTube Career

At just 6 years old, much of Gunner Pratt's life is still unwritten.

However, Spencer Pratt and Heidi Montag's eldest son is already following in his parents' famous footsteps and reaching for something in the distance—social media fame.

"Gunner is gonna come out with his own YouTube channel," Heidi told E! News in an exclusive interview last month. "We're actually working on it."

In fact, The Hills couple—who are also parents to 19-month-old son Ryker Pratt—say Gunner has been asking for his own YouTube channel for over a year.

"No momager-dadager," Spencer insisted. "But he watches all these kids on YouTube. So he sees like, 'Why do they get to have unboxed toys?' It's not us—even though I'm so excited for his channel."

Still, Gunner isn't exactly staring at a blank page before him. After all, both he and Ryker have their own Instagram pages managed by their parents—with the older sibling already accumulating more than 70,000 followers.

Plus, Gunner is awfully familiar with his mom and dad's fame.

"He now sees mom as like a singer-pop star," Spencer said of the "I'll Do It" artist. "But before, he just understood social media because we're always filming ourselves. So he's like, 'Show this to Snapchat. Dad, put this or don't put this on Snapchat. We don't want this.' So, he's already a good little director."

And while Gunner just graduated from kindergarten, he's already developed an appreciation for respectful fans.

"He loves when people come up to us and ask for a photo and they leave," his father added. "He goes, 'That was a nice fan, Dad.' I'm like, 'They were very nice. Supporter—we'll call them supporters, son.'"

Though Gunner and Ryker aren't old enough to have watched their mom and dad on The Hills in the aughts, the Speidi they would have seen on their screens then probably wouldn't match the duo they know now—especially because Heidi says she's grown more serious since becoming a parent.

"Kind of like the captain of the ship," she said. "I'm scheduling things, and I have to get everyone out on time, and 'do you have snacks and water and this and that?' So I feel like I'm always on this go-mode. So I'm trying really hard to breathe in that and not take everything so seriously. But it's hard. You ask 10 times to get out of the house, and you're late, and there's just so much going on. So I'm trying really hard to find that balance of letting things go and keeping things in order and on time."

Meanwhile, Spencer said he's trying to maintain balance in other areas of his life. This includes his approach to fitness and nutrition, with him noting he was inspired by Heidi's weight-loss journey.

"Heidi still has a fun life," Spencer said while promoting his partnership with Hydroxycut. "She has red wine sometimes and eats bread. But she works out so hard. If we're at soccer practice with Gunner, she's doing lunges or air squats. And so yeah, the six pack is obviously my goal, but I just really would like to have a fitness, health lifestyle."

Lauren Conrad

Lauren Conrad found her forever-mate in William Tell after her misadventures with Jason Wahler and Brody Jenner were on display for all to see, followed by a fairly private relationship with actor Kyle Howard that didn't pan out.

She was set up with the musician-turned-lawyer on a blind date—on Valentine's Day in 2012—and her pals, at least, knew he was "the One" for her right away. Lauren and William married on Sept. 13, 2014, and are parents to sons Liam and Charlie.

Kristin Cavallari

Kristin Cavallari shared in April 2020 that she and retired Chicago Bears player Jay Cutler were getting divorced after almost seven years of marriage. They share sons Camden and Jaxon and daughter Saylor.

Following the divorce, star who started it all on Laguna Beach before swooping into The Hills' fifth season dated comedian Jeff Dye for five months before their split in March 2021

In February 2024, she debuted her romance with former college football star Mark Estes. The following September, multiple outlets reported that the two had called it quits and she's had a ball relaying anecdotes from her dating life on her podcast Very Cavallari and E! show Honestly Cavallari.

Audrina Patridge

Audrina Patridge may have debuted a new romance with country singer Michael Ray in July 2024, but the love of her life remains daughter Kirra, her child with ex-husband Corey Bohan.

Audrina filed for divorce from Corey in September 2017 after less than a year of marriage, before their split was ultimately finalized in December 2018.

Audrina dated Ryan Cabrera for awhile (again) in 2018 and was linked to L.A. bar owner Matt Chase, whom she met through Jason Wahler, the following year.

In December 2022, a source confirmed to E! News she started dating her Was It Real? podcast producer Jarod Einsohn.

Heidi Montag

In what had to be The Hills' most unexpected (or most obvious?) legacy, Heidi Montag and her pot-stirring boyfriend Spencer Pratt went the distance, doggedly making it work through everything from broken friendships and frayed family ties, to sex tape rumors and I'm a Celebrity...Get Me Out of Here, to plastic surgery and copious amounts of money spent on crystals. Their Speidi sense saw them through it all.

They eloped and swapped vows in Mexico on Nov. 20, 2008, then re-sealed the deal in front of family and friends (and cameras) on April 25, 2009, in Pasadena, Calif. Their son Gunner was born in 2017 and his little brother Ryker arrived in 2022.

Whitney Port

Whitney Port went the no-drama route in love, meeting Tim Rosenman—a producer on her Hills spin-off The City—and marrying him on Nov. 7, 2015.

They welcomed son Sonny in 2017 and have been open about their fertility journey to expand their family, with Whitney sharing that both she and a surrogate suffered pregnancy losses.

Lauren Bosworth

In 2019, Lo Bosworth was dating Kitu Life CEO Jimmy DeCicco, a Shark Tank alum. They were Yankee-game-and-St.-Barths-vacation-level serious at least, but appearances on each other's 'grams dwindled in 2020 as Lo focused on self-care and expanding her business.

Five years later, the Love Wellness founder announced that she was engaged to investor Domenic "Dom" Natale

"For you, my darling, it could only be a 'yes,'" Bosworth wrote on Instagram at the time, alongside a photo of the couple sharing a passionate embrace. "Thank you for being the best that one could be, for me. All my love, L."

The couple later announced they tied the knot in an intimate July 2025 ceremony and have their first baby on the way. As Lo told People at the time, "We wanted our wedding to meet the moment of where we’re at right now."

Jason Wahler

After not being able to do right by Lauren on the show and racking up multiple drinking-related arrests, Jason Wahler eventually got sober and found long-term love with Ashley Stack. They married in 2013.

They two are parents to daughter Delilah (born 2017) and sons Wyatt (born 2021) and August (born May 2025).

Stephanie Pratt

Spencer's younger sister Stephanie Pratt refrained from dating much in the spotlight, but when she was on the British reality show Made in Chelsea, tabloids on that side of the Atlantic started keeping a close watch. In 2016, she was rumored to be dating fellow reality TV star Joey Essex after they appeared together on another show called Celebs Go Dating.

In a joint appearance on This Morning, Joey revealed that he and Stephanie had been on a date in real life—and that he bought her a puppy.

Afterwards, she was linked to Bachelor in Paradise alum Derek Peth and Jonny Mitchell.

Holly Montag

Heidi's big sis Holly Montag got her master's degree in clinical mental health counseling and founded Women's Recovery in Colorado.

She's led a private life for years since marrying Richie Wilson in September 2014 (on the same day Lauren tied the knot) and welcoming son Isaiah in May 2015.

But in a real plot twist, Heidi was busy posting TikToks from Holly's wedding weekend in Denver in July 2025, and Spencer noted that he wasn't at pal Brody's wedding because Holly was getting married at the same time.

Justin Bobby

In real life, he's known as Justin Brescia, and Audrina's ex had slid into the DMs of model and restaurant investor Lindsey Pelas years ago but they didn't go on a date until around October 2018, when he was about to shoot season one of The Hills: New Beginnings. However, by the time the season wrapped, the two had called it quits.

Brody Jenner

Brody Jenner seemingly married Kaitlynn Carter in a 2018 ceremony in Bali. However, during an episode of The Hills: New Beginnings in 2019, they confirmed it was never a legal union.

The couple broke up that summer, with Carter briefly dating Miley Cyrus before forming a relationship with her now fiancé and father of her two children Kristopher Brock, and Brody striking up a short romance with Josie Canseco.

The former Prince of Malibu was later linked to TikToker Daisy Keech and stylist Briana Jungworth—who shares son Freddie with Louis Tomlinson—before finding love with surfer Tia Blanco in 2022.

The two got engaged in June 2023 and welcomed daughter Honey the following August. Brody and Tia tied the knot in July 2025.

Frankie Delgado

"Brody's friend" turned "Lauren's friend"—and then "Brody's friend" again—became "Jennifer Acosta's husband" in 2013 and they are now "IsabellaFrancis and River's parents."
