Midwest-raised mother-of-two Andrea Rogers; creator of the global workout sensation Xtend Barre and XB Pilates for BODi saw firsthand the effects of "gymtimidation" while beginning her career in the field of Pilates.

"Even though we have multiple repeats at my retreats, where 50% of the people return, I found that many first-time individuals who came were very nervous," shares BODi Super Trainer Andrea Rogers. "It’s as if they were questioning themselves: Will I fit in? But we all know how intimidating it is to walk into a gym or a studio or even to press play on a workout at home. It takes a lot of guts."

This call for a new, committed, fearless collective — one where women could unleash their true potential and become their best selves, was the foundation for Rogers’ Xtend programs, that catapulted her to international recognition.

"I realized every person is probably having a mini pep talk with their inner self. My goal has always been to make sure from the second they walk in or the minute they press play that they have a sense of belonging in this authentic, welcoming type of community."

As a former professional dancer, Andrea Rogers was first introduced to Pilates for its therapeutic benefits. However, it wasn’t long before her passion metamorphosed into her purpose. So, to offer her clients variety, fun, and increased fitness benefits, she created her innovative fusion of core dance and Pilates fundamentals.

"Where other barre programs focus only on small movements, Xtend Barre’s diverse programs focus on whole-body movement, delivering cardio, strength, endurance, and flexibility," says Rogers.

Even though barre has become a popular form of exercise, the fundamental values of her brand have stayed constant over time. Her workouts are about embracing the challenge and engaging in the journey while staying rooted in hard work, a community of women supporting women, and, of course, movements big and small.

No matter your fitness level, Andrea Rogers' workout strategy and inclusive community gives women a sense of serenity.

"You, too, can excel in these workouts," she says. "I don't care if you are inflexible, have two left feet, or have never danced before. It doesn’t matter if you trip over your toes, go right when I say left, or go down when I say up," she smiles. "Who cares? Nobody cares. Nobody's judging."

She continues: "It isn't about the way you look. It isn't about reaching that height of perfection. It's about movement, doing the thing, and just pressing play. Soon, you will see that the coordination will improve your flexibility, balance, and strength. You will be better, and that's what we're looking at now."

Renowned at BODi as a "powerhouse of positivity," the Super Trainer’s contagious movement has spread globally, with her franchised and licensed live studio Xtend programs and classes in 12 countries — all led by over 1,000 certified instructors.

One of the most beautiful aspects of being part of a community of like-minded women who support and encourage each other is the collective celebration of even the most minor successes.

"That's how we create this lovely momentum and this beautiful, healthy addiction to movement: We get that little high every time there's a win, and we celebrate that in our classes," says Rogers. "No victory is too small. It's about applying that same determination and grit and talking yourself into it. And that's what we do."

"As trainers, we support anyone having those little mini dialogues within saying, 'I shouldn't be here,'" she adds. "But most days, it does require a level of dedication. And so, for me, it's about helping individuals understand the cycle of motivation."

Overall, Andrea Rogers strives to create a welcoming and uplifting atmosphere for women, helping them embrace their natural "badassery" by boosting their confidence through her workouts.

"I'm going to help you to know that what you're doing is impactful and meaningful, even though it's just a workout.” She concludes: "But we're going to have fun with it."

After all, finding yourself in a space where you belong and having fun doing it should be what life is all about.

So, ladies, embrace your natural "badassery" by completing one of her workouts, feeling a little more confident, and enjoying the feeling as that confidence trickles into your everyday life.
