There is an intriguing K-Pop girl group that has captured the interest of global fans, receiving love from American local NBC broadcasts just a month after debuting. BADVILLAIN, who debuted in June with their album Overstep, garnered attention on social media even before their debut when dancer Emma from the famous dance program Street Woman Fighter joined the group.
Known for their powerful performances, BADVILLAIN, still exuding the freshness of rookies, shared their thoughts and behind-the-scenes stories about their local NBC broadcast appearances.
Member Ina confidently introduced themselves first, saying, “Hello, we are BADVILLAIN, a Korean girl group consisting of seven members with diverse charms and energy. We are Chloe Young, Kelly, Emma, Vin, YunSeo, Hu'e, and myself, Ina.”
She continued, “The ‘BAD’ in BADVILLAIN doesn’t just mean ‘bad,’ it stands for ‘Be Aggressive for Desire,’ representing our desperate desire and passion to be on stage. While we currently have an overall hip-hop sound, we plan to show a variety of music genres, styles, and performances in the future, so please look forward to it!”
Their consecutive appearances on local NBC networks, still feeling surreal to them, are experiences for K-pop artists. When asked about their experiences during these broadcasts, Hu'e expressed her heartfelt gratitude, saying, “First and foremost, I felt incredibly grateful. It was such an honor and joy to appear on NBC in the United States. And as I’m studying English, it made me realize that I need to study even harder.” Their nervous yet endearing rookie demeanor was evident.
Addressing their worries and nervousness, Emma added, “To be honest, I was really nervous trying not to make any mistakes! There are still many moments when I feel nervous and anxious, but I’m doing my best every moment so that I don’t have any regrets!”
In their song "Hurricane," which they promoted during these broadcasts, member Chloe Young participated in the songwriting process, infusing the song with their message.
She said, “When I first heard ‘Hurricane,’ the beat and feel of the song were so intense that I immediately imagined an actual hurricane. What I considered most important was conveying BADVILLAIN’s message and ambition through our unique rap and vocals.”
Lastly, regarding why the “Hurricane” performance video has garnered significant attention from American broadcasters and the public, member Vin enthusiastically remarked, “I think it’s because the ‘Hurricane’ performance video showcases not only a high level of performance but also BADVILLAIN’s intense rap and addictive melody, which has caught the interest of many people.”
Indeed, Idaho Today’s host Lauren Jenkins shared her support, saying her sister is a fan of BADVILLAIN, and even sent a message before the broadcast saying, “BADVILLAIN is one of my all-time favorite girl groups. This is so crazy. I can’t believe it. Yes. OMG.”

As we look forward to the further development of BADVILLAIN as artists, we anticipate seeing them on various American broadcasts and perhaps even talk shows, following their local NBC appearances.
