Kristin Cavallari has a message for her ex-husband Jay Cutler in the wake of his recent DUI arrest.
The 37-year-old made a brief statement at the start of her Oct. 22 Let’s Be Honest podcast, sharing that she had recorded the episode about breakups before the news of the former NFL star’s arrest broke.
“I do, of course, wish Jay the best and hope he gets the help he needs,” Kristin, who shares sons Camden, 12, and Jaxon, 10, and daughter Saylor, 8, with Jay, said, “But that's all I will be saying about it."
Jay was arrested following a minor traffic accident as a first offense of driving while intoxicated and possession of a handgun while under the influence on Oct. 17 in Franklin, Tennessee, according to jail records viewed by E! News.
The 41-year-old, who posted a $5,000 bail, also faces failure to exercise due care—or following appropriate road rules and regulations—and violation of implied consent law due to refusing a sobriety exam, as seen in documents obtained by E! News.
A police affidavit, likewise obtained by E! News Oct. 17, indicated that the driver of the vehicle Jay’s white Ram allegedly rear-ended told responding officers that the father of three attempted to flee the scene after offering $2,000 in exchange for not calling law enforcement.
While speaking with Jay, officers noticed that former Chicago Bears quarterback’s speech was “thick-tongued, slurred and mumbled” and his eyes as “bloodshot,” according to the charging document. Jay allegedly “had an overwhelming odor of an alcoholic beverage emitting from his person,” but denied consuming any alcohol before admitting he’d had “a little bit.”
E! News previously reached out to reps for Jay but has not yet heard back.
On a recent podcast episode, Kristin shared that her custody arrangement with her ex, whom she married in 2013 and split from in 2020, has changed.
“When I was dating last fall, I was still doing split custody with my ex and I had every other week off from my kids and that's changed,” Kristin, who recently split from boyfriend Mark Estes, explained on an Oct. 1 episode of her podcast. “So, I'm really happy and really content having my life right now being about my kids and my work."
