Anna Kendrick has some sweet company in Brittany Snow.

The Woman of the Hour star—who also makes her directorial debut in the thriller—revealed she attended a Halloween party with her Pitch Perfect costar last year, where things quickly took a psychedelic turn.

“We went to this party and someone asked if I wanted to try microdosing mushrooms,” Anna recalled during an appearance on The Late Show with Stephen Colbert Oct. 23. “They’re these little chocolate bars and everybody takes a square, and I though—just to be safe, even my microdose—I’ll chop it in half and I’ll just take half.”

But the 39-year-old’s caution proved futile, as she quickly learned that the hallucinogenic often doesn’t mix evenly in chocolate.

“Sometimes, there can be one little bite that doesn’t have a microdose, it has a real macrodose,” the Twilight alum explained. “So I’m at this party and it’s the first time I’ve ever tried mushrooms, and I am just getting so high. And I just start saying, ‘Oh no. Oh, I’m so high. Oh God, I’m so high.’ And I just can’t stop saying it.”

That’s when, she said, her pal came to her rescue in the most unlikely way.

“Brittany, like a hero, just took a bunch more mushrooms to meet me, to come get me,” she said. “So then the two of us are in the corner of this party staring at each other, grinning like the Joker while streaming tears, but we felt great. I’m just going, ‘You’re so beautiful! No, you’re so beautiful!’”

Beyond the compliments, the pair’s altered state also led to an interesting spark of creativity.

“[Brittany] had these little jewels on her face for the party and it was blending into the L.A. skyline,” Anna continued, “and I was like, ‘You’re a creative genius.’ And I told her she should remake the film Chinatown? So those were my big revelations from mushrooms.”

Anna ended her story with a warning to viewers: “Learn from my mistakes, kids!”

While she may approach mushrooms differently in the future, the actress recently revealed she wouldn’t hesitate to sign on for a fourth installment in the Pitch Perfect franchise.

“I know that Rebel [Wilson] was kind of the one out in the world talking about it,” Anna told E! News Oct. 10. “She is kind of a powerhouse steam train kind of person. So there's part of me that's like, ‘If anyone can make it happen, it's really her.’ I'll put that in her hands.”
