Kelly Rizzo is thankful for the family she has in Dave Coulier.
The Comfort Food podcast host—who was married to Dave's Full House costar Bob Saget from 2018 until his death in 2022—shared insight into her bond with Dave and his wife Melissa Coulier and how she's been supporting them since the comedian shared his diagnosis with stage 3 Non-Hodgkin's lymphoma.
"I had known for a bit before it was announced. I had spoken to him," Kelly exclusively told E! News at the 11th Annual Reality TV Awards in Los Angeles Nov. 18. "I'd been in very close contact with his wife Mel. She's been giving me a lot of updates about his treatments and progress."
And the 45-year-old was incredibly relieved to learn that Dave's cancer had not spread to his bone marrow, which she noted "is a huge, huge, huge plus and makes everything so much better for his outlook."
She added, "I was so grateful to hear that news very recently."
Amid Dave's health journey, Kelly is choosing to only focus on the positive. As she said with a laugh, "I just know he's gonna be fine because he has no choice. We all need him."
But Dave has more than just Kelly rallying around him as she gushed over how the Full House cast never hesitates to show up for one another.
"They're just always so supportive," she explained, "and it's just another thing for them to come together and be a family. They did it with Bob and now they'll do it with Dave to support him."
As for Dave, the 65-year-old had previously shared that he was diagnosed with "a very aggressive type of lymphoma," explaining that he had learned about the development of his lymph nodes only five weeks before speaking out about his battle.
"In that time, I've had three surgeries, I've had chemo, I've lost a little bit of hair," he told Today's Hoda Kotb on Nov. 13. "I kind of look like a little baby bird now, but it has been a roller coaster ride for sure."
But despite the difficulty, Dave is using diagnosis as a way to refocus his outlook on life.
"I told Melissa I don't know why, but I [am] OK with whatever the news [is] going to be no matter how devastating," he said to Today.com. "I can't explain where that came from. I've had an incredible life. I've had the most amazing people in my life. This has been an extraordinary journey, and I'm OK if this is the end of the journey."
