Janelle Brown is thankful for the memories.
The Sister Wives star paid tribute to her late son Garrison Brown after celebrating her first Thanksgiving holiday since his death in March.
"First of the 'big' holidays without you sweetheart," she captioned a younger photo of Garrison Dec. 1. "We all gathered in NC to celebrate together and kept your photo close by."
"We laughed about your silly sense of humor and told so many stories honoring you," Janelle—who also shares Logan Brown, 30, Madison Brush, 29, Hunter Brown, 27, Gabriel Brown, 23, and Savanah Brown, 19, with her ex Kody Brown—continued. "We ate, played games and enjoyed each other’s company. Everyone is returning home now and normal life resumes tomorrow. But I feel you close by."
The 55-year-old also shared a photo on Thanksgiving Nov. 28 of her four oldest children smiling at the grocery store, which she captioned, "Grocery shopping with them definitely looks different these days compared to when they were little," along with a laughing emoji.
The Brown family gathering for the holiday comes after Janelle recently marked six months since Garrison's death by suicide at the age of 25.
"6 months ago today you went away," she wrote on Instagram Sept. 5. "You come up in my photo memories almost every day. Sometimes it doesn’t seem like you’re gone. And then I remember I won’t be getting a call or text from you and it all comes rushing back."
“I know you fought hard but in the end you just couldn’t stay,” Janelle continued. “I love you so much and will see you again when my journey is done.”
Garrison's oldest sister Madison also honored her brother at the time.
"My brother, Garrison, had his struggles, but this was not something any of us saw any signs for," she wrote on Instagram. "We were truly blindsided. We talked regularly, and my mom’s kids have always been close-knit, even as life changed around us."
"Garrison was sarcastic and witty, and in moments of seriousness, he seemed almost uncomfortable with it" Madison continued, "like it was hard for him to be vulnerable. I miss him dearly.”
The recent season 19 premiere of Sister Wives also acknowledged Garrison's passing, despite being filmed the year prior.
"This season of Sister Wives began filming in late 2022," a note at the top of the episode read. "On March 5, 2024, Kody and Janelle’s son Garrison passed away. He was greatly loved and will be deeply missed."
