Zayn Malik is addressing pulling the plug on his show.

The 31-year-old singer was set to hit the stage at the O2 City Hall in Newcastle, England on Dec. 3, but abruptly canceled the show beforehand while fans were already in the venue.

Shortly after, the “Pillowtalk” singer revealed it was because of vocal issues.

“I am so sorry to do this but my voice just isn’t there at all tonight and without it there’s no show,” Zayn explained in a message shared to his Instagram Story Dec. 3. “I’m truly sorry to let you down, especially at such short notice…I held onto hope until the very last moment. I’m hopeful with some rest tonight I’ll be back on stage tomorrow. My deepest apologies Newcastle love you all xx.”

The former One Direction singer is set to return to the stage on Dec. 4 in Manchester, England at the O2 Apollo.

Zayn’s first solo tour—which supports his latest album The Room Under the Stairs—has been met with setbacks. The highly anticipated show was set to kick-off Oct. 23 in San Francisco, with dates to follow in Las Vegas, Los Angeles, Washington, D.C., and New York City. However, the U.S. dates of the show were moved to January, following the death of his former One Direction bandmate Liam Payne on Oct. 16.

“Given the heartbreaking loss experienced this week, I’ve made the decision to postpone the US leg of the Stairway to the Sky Tour,” Zayn shared at the time. “The dates will be rescheduled for January and I’ll post them as soon as it’s all set in the next few days. Your tickets will remain valid for the new dates.”

Zayn’s tour has also seen emotional moments, as he’s paid tribute to Liam with a banner at the end of all of his shows that reads, "Liam Payne, 1993-2024, Love you Bro."

On Nov. 29, while performing in Liam’s hometown of Wolverhampton, England, Zayn dedicated his song “It’s You” to his friend and reflected on about his bandmate’s passing.

“So, I’ve been doing something at the end of the show every night, and it’s being dedicated to my brother Liam Payne,” Zayn said. “Rest in peace. I hope you’re seeing this in your hometown tonight, Wolverhampton, this is for you Liam.”
