Nicole Kidman wasn't quite ready to make Fashion Week a full family affair.
And yet, the Oscar-winner's 16-year-old daughter Sunday Rose Urban—whom she shares with husband Keith Urban—was determined to make her runway debut during the Miu Miu Paris Womenswear show at Paris Fashion Week in October. But first, Sunday had to convince her mom it was the right choice.
"That's all driven by her," Nicole admitted to The Hollywood Reporter in an interview published Dec. 4. "Me going, 'Oh no, I don't think so.'"
Luckily, Sunday had someone else in her corner: Miu Miu's founder Miuccia Prada.
"Miuccia just loved her," Nicole added, "and was like, 'No, I want her.' And Miuccia is so powerful as a woman. So that was a good match."
Plus, it helped that she and the fashion icon have known each other for so long. As Nicole noted, "I've been in this industry for a while."
But before Sunday made her debut, Nicole—who also shares daughter Faith Margaret, 14, with Keith, as well as Bella Cruise, 31, and Connor Cruise, 29, with ex Tom Cruise—did have a few words of wisdom for her daughter.
"I was just like, 'You got this baby,'" she told E! News in October about her motherly advice. "I'm trying to give her her own space, you know? [Not be] overbearing or dominant in any way."
Following her runway debut, the Big Little Lies star felt "incredibly proud and supportive" of her teenager.
And her dad Keith was equally impressed by Sunday's runway skills, telling E! News shortly after her debut that he thought she did a "very good" job.
"At the end of the day anything that any of us choose to do involves an enormous amount of work," he added. "So go get in the trenches and start paying the dues as well."
As for Sunday herself, she was overjoyed to be walking in the Miu Miu show.
"I've been wanting to do this for so long," she gushed in a video shared to Vogue's TikTok in October,"so when the offer came through, it was so exciting. And now, the day's finally here."
